[00:00:01] Speaker A: He was born on a Saturday in 73 he loves punk rock music I need to cabin the dazzle Jack his motherfucking envy SC Motherfucker. Cuz here he comes, Andy Sculling Wearing. [00:00:25] Speaker B: His orange hat now see, straight into it. [00:00:30] Speaker C: Not according to the movies I watch. [00:00:32] Speaker B: Well, you know, this, this isn't so. Anyway, welcome to Unsigned518. I'm here with Eric Ajay from Black Tongue. Reverend how's it going, gentlemen? Hey, Andy. [00:00:45] Speaker C: Hey, thanks for having us. [00:00:46] Speaker B: Good. Yeah, we got, we got, we got two thirds. Two thirds of black tongue. And you know, we're, we're having fun. We're. We're making jokes and I just started recording because that's, that's. It just seems like. Seemed like the right thing to do. Totally out of context. [00:01:01] Speaker C: Two out of the three of us are here today. Mike could unfortunately, could not make it today. [00:01:05] Speaker D: Yeah, he's a little nova. Caned up. [00:01:09] Speaker B: Right. [00:01:10] Speaker D: You know, dental work too. [00:01:11] Speaker B: Yeah, some dental stuff. I had some dental stuff two weeks ago. I talked about it like on the spot. Like, sucks. What? [00:01:19] Speaker C: It's terrible. [00:01:19] Speaker B: There's my wife walking in. Hi, Katie. [00:01:22] Speaker D: Hi. [00:01:25] Speaker B: But yeah. So two thirds of Black Tongue, Reverend and since the last time, because this will be what, your third. [00:01:30] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:01:31] Speaker B: Third time on the show. I think you might be the first three timer. [00:01:36] Speaker C: We're the first hat trick. We're the first hat trick. [00:01:38] Speaker B: Yeah, I think so. Because I have. I have some that have been on twice. Several that have been on twice. But I think you're the, the first time. [00:01:44] Speaker C: I feel like we. We're in a club now. We're in a club. [00:01:46] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:01:46] Speaker C: You are the only one. [00:01:48] Speaker B: Well, you're also the homies. So like when you're like, hey, we want to be on the show. I'm like, yeah, come on over. [00:01:52] Speaker D: We were like, early. And then I went back and looked. We were on May of Last year, episode 124. [00:02:00] Speaker B: Yeah. And I remember on the, The Halloween episode I had Eric, you like. [00:02:07] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. [00:02:08] Speaker B: Told like the little Diddy about like the first time he came here and he was like, I'm just going to some dude's house that I've never met. You know, going to some. [00:02:17] Speaker C: I definitely thought you made no chance that you could just be robbing us for our gear. [00:02:21] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, it's, it's. Could be the long. It could be the long game played that I. [00:02:26] Speaker D: And then I sent that to you. And then I was like 20 minutes later, I was taking a shower and I was like, no, wait, I got something better, and then I did that little song out in my shed. [00:02:34] Speaker B: No, no, I played them both. [00:02:36] Speaker D: Oh, you played them both? [00:02:36] Speaker B: I played them both because the episode starts with the song. Like, the first thing you hear in the entire episode is the song that you wrote. And then I played the. Like, the little story or whatever. Yeah. [00:02:49] Speaker C: This is an amazing culmination, guys. One for myself and for everyone. [00:02:53] Speaker B: Well, yeah, so the first two times you were on Jason, you weren't even in the. You weren't even in the band. So let's. Let's talk about. Let's talk about that. Like, how, you know, two of my. My favorite bands that kind of. Kind of merged together and, you know. [00:03:09] Speaker C: So when it started in the wake of under the Den, kind of taking a pause, and then working with Lonnie. [00:03:17] Speaker B: On Forensic Polaroids, who was just on this last week. [00:03:22] Speaker C: Right. [00:03:22] Speaker B: Wonderful episode was last week. Talks great things about you, Jason. [00:03:26] Speaker C: Likewise. Lonnie is a gem. I have nothing but good things to say about that entire process and the songs that we're making together, it's beautiful. Lonnie's a beautiful soul. And so we ended up through shortwave radio band meeting at the. At the video shoot at the. At the Jive Hive live for the video. And then we. [00:03:48] Speaker D: Right. That was the first time I. Well, I had seen you play in under the Den, but I had never actually met you before. [00:03:54] Speaker C: Okay. Yeah. And then we met officially at the Jive Hive video shortwave radio band super crew hangout for so long. The hopeful, funnest thing ever. And then we played together. He, Eric, was the bass player for our impromptu birthday party Andy Palooza performance of the first single from Polaroids. [00:04:16] Speaker B: This is so Did AI Girls, right? [00:04:19] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:04:19] Speaker C: AI Girl. [00:04:20] Speaker D: Lonnie. Lonnie. Because Black Tongue Reverend was playing, and Lonnie hit me up, like, two days before and was like, hey, I want to play. AI girl, can you learn it? And we're never gonna practice it. You're just gonna show up and play it with us. [00:04:37] Speaker C: And you did. [00:04:38] Speaker B: Yeah. And you guys crushed it. [00:04:39] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:04:40] Speaker B: So good. [00:04:40] Speaker D: Like, it was so good. I remember you and I looking at each other, like, throughout the whole thing, like, damn, it was me. [00:04:49] Speaker C: I knew because I knew what I was doing. [00:04:51] Speaker D: Yeah, you played drums on the record, everybody. [00:04:53] Speaker C: And it was just like a moment in time. It was beautiful. It's like, what that must feel like when people do that to me. And I was like, this is crazy. So Lonnie calls me up, like, a month later. He's like, yeah, They're. Eric's looking. They're looking for a drummer. I was like, yeah, tell him to call me up. And the. The rest is like. That was like the summer of last year, Right. It hasn't been that long. And then here we are. [00:05:15] Speaker B: That's awesome. [00:05:16] Speaker C: Right? Making this new album. Releasing this new album this week. This Friday, it's going to come out. And the album's called. What's the album called, Eric Up. [00:05:24] Speaker D: State of Mind, Upstate of Mind. [00:05:26] Speaker C: He beat you, too? [00:05:29] Speaker B: Yeah. All right. [00:05:30] Speaker D: I was waiting to ask if your mic is too far from your face or not. [00:05:34] Speaker B: Oh, I can fix it. [00:05:35] Speaker C: Am I. I didn't want to be too loud either. [00:05:37] Speaker B: Now you're loud. [00:05:39] Speaker C: I didn't want to be too loud. [00:05:40] Speaker B: Oh, now you're. [00:05:42] Speaker C: But I don't want to be too roomy either. [00:05:44] Speaker B: No, you're good. No, you don't hold it sideways. No, but nobody holds. Nobody holds it sideways. So that's funny that you know all the key moments, right, in you joining the band, like, I was basically there. [00:05:59] Speaker D: Yeah. They all revolve around, you realize. [00:06:02] Speaker B: And that's why we're back, you know? Yeah. And had no idea. [00:06:05] Speaker C: So beautiful. [00:06:05] Speaker B: Yeah. Because I remember, like, you know, I mean, Lonnie again was just last. Last week talking about AI Girl. Mostly he was talking about one hit, but I was like, wow. And I got thinking, how did Jason join Black Tongue Effort? And I was. [00:06:21] Speaker C: I didn't realize this very wonderful local scene was how. Just meeting people through, doing cool things with bands and our friends and all of that awesome things while we play music. [00:06:33] Speaker D: Yeah. Shout out to Lonnie for asking me to play on that song. [00:06:36] Speaker B: Yeah, right. [00:06:37] Speaker C: Shout out to Lonnie on all things. [00:06:39] Speaker B: And also, fuck you, Lonnie, for not asking me to play. [00:06:42] Speaker C: You got on one hit, though. You got on the one hand. [00:06:45] Speaker B: I did. I'm the. I'm the announcer. But, yeah, we talked about that. I sat on the episode with him because I just edited it, like, a couple hours ago, and I said to him, you know, my. Gee, if only you had a fucking bass player, you know, like. Because he was like. [00:07:00] Speaker D: He was just trying to be inclusive, right? [00:07:02] Speaker B: No, but, like, on the recording even, because he was like, oh, yeah, Dave plays bass. Because, like, I was having trouble nailing down a bass player. And I was like, the dude. [00:07:11] Speaker D: Dave, there's another. There's another little nugget is that we recorded the drum parts for this new album with Dave Tayo. [00:07:19] Speaker B: Oh, did you? [00:07:20] Speaker D: Yes. [00:07:21] Speaker B: Oh, no. [00:07:22] Speaker D: Yep. The only thing that we did in a. What I'll say a proper studio. Yeah. This time we did drums with Dave Tayo and then we did the rest at my house, as always. [00:07:36] Speaker B: That's awesome. Like, and I. I love again that. That just Tayo just such. Does such great work. I love. [00:07:42] Speaker C: He's one of my favorite producers for drums, if not the. My favorite person I've ever worked with for drums. [00:07:48] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:07:48] Speaker B: And I mean, a lot of people may not know, but like, drums are his first instance. You know what I mean? He's a great guitarist, great piano, great singer, everything. But, like, drums are his. [00:07:59] Speaker C: And I've never seen anyone really understand how to record drums as well as he does yet. But I've only worked with like, maybe like 20 different people, so not everybody. [00:08:09] Speaker B: Well, you know, 19 more than I've worked. No, 18 more than I've worked Well. [00:08:14] Speaker C: And what's great is we have such a wealth of like, good recording studios and people who also back up our industry around here besides having this new wealth of. Of bands and talent that's coming along. So, like, our show last week was great. Two weeks ago it would be. Was great. [00:08:33] Speaker D: Yeah. Great crowd for a Sunday afternoon. [00:08:38] Speaker B: That was at Single Cut. [00:08:40] Speaker D: Unified. [00:08:40] Speaker B: Unified. I knew it was one of the one. [00:08:42] Speaker C: What a great place. Another gem in the. [00:08:44] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:08:45] Speaker C: Off the beaten path there. [00:08:46] Speaker B: Yeah. And the owners there, like, what makes places like that so cool to play at is because, like, the owners respect the local musicians. You know what I mean? They want. Yeah, totally. They want you to be there and are excited that you're there playing. And there's, you know, it's not like we got these guys coming to play. [00:09:06] Speaker D: You know, shout out to the band Sad Dads, because one of their. One of their dudes works there. [00:09:12] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:09:12] Speaker C: Nice. [00:09:13] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:09:13] Speaker D: And then another one is that single. So like, they. They've got like the brewery market. [00:09:18] Speaker B: And he also. Corey also writes for Metroland. [00:09:21] Speaker D: That's right, he does. [00:09:23] Speaker C: This is just a name drop podcast. [00:09:25] Speaker B: Yeah. Yes. [00:09:27] Speaker D: Jesus. [00:09:27] Speaker B: Now I've name dropped way more. So, you know, we're talking now. Has it been six months? What? What, like, when did it, like, solidify? We're like. And I remember the announcement, but I'm getting old and I don't remember. [00:09:44] Speaker C: Probably about September of last year. I would say we're. We're coming on to about a solid. [00:09:48] Speaker D: Year of you officially being in the van. Yeah, yeah, it's probably been about a year. [00:09:53] Speaker C: About a year. [00:09:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:09:54] Speaker C: We're coming on. [00:09:55] Speaker D: That goes to show you my anniversary of being. Yeah. [00:09:58] Speaker C: This triumvirate of souls making this heavy music together. [00:10:02] Speaker D: Yeah. Yeah, it's. Yeah. And a lot of that was sort of spent, like, we had, like, a lot of this album written sort of before that, and then we kind of. You know, I think the last time we were on, we were like, yeah, we're gonna. We got a new. We got a new one coming. And then, you know, things happened and. And so a lot of it was just, like, getting. Getting familiar with each other and really, like, letting the songs breathe with a new drummer and, you know, taking our time this time well. [00:10:42] Speaker B: So we definitely. I want to talk about the new album. I want to talk about, like, the process of it. And like you said, you know, it was already kind of in the works, and then things had to get rearranged. But first, let's. Let's play something. What. What song do you want to play first? [00:10:57] Speaker D: Let's see. Let's. [00:10:58] Speaker C: I think the first single. [00:11:00] Speaker D: Yeah, first single. When the Reverend Comes to Town. It's like a great intro song. [00:11:05] Speaker B: Cool. Well, let's. Let's listen to when the Reverend Comes to Town. Black Tongue Reverend they'll be right back to talk some more with Eric and Jason of Black Tongue Reverend. [00:11:25] Speaker A: SA Celebration will abound Fear will flood the rivers Earth will fill the sky when the Reverend comes to town SA Got all your friends and the Reverend comes to town Sam. [00:14:26] Speaker B: All right. That's when the Reverend Comes to town Black Tongue Reverend and, you know, you guys said that there was stuff that you had to dial back and kind of not dial back, like, heaviness wise, but, like, had to rearrange now that you had had Jason in. And, you know, while we were listening to the song Jason, you were saying that they kind of let you go a little wild, like, so I guess. Tell me the process with. With replacing a drummer kind of mid album. [00:14:56] Speaker C: Well, I think for this, because they had a lot of the songs, like, idealized. [00:15:00] Speaker B: Right. [00:15:01] Speaker C: You know, it was just about me finding those. Those right tracks. And they were very open to whatever I was interpreting the songs as. And I think we really found, like, what the songs are supposed to be with. With this process with the producer we had, with mastering, with everything that. That we've gone through with this new album. Like, the. The songs were. Were there. I just had to. I had an easy job. I just had to come in and pretty much play drums and get it tight and get it sounding where they had already envisioned these songs to be. So pretty easy. It was a pretty, you know, easy and fun Fun experience for me to come on with so much material and. [00:15:44] Speaker B: Have the direction already laid. Right. [00:15:47] Speaker C: Pretty ready to go. It was just. Just do it. [00:15:50] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:15:51] Speaker C: You know, grip it and rip it. [00:15:52] Speaker D: We basically had, you know, demo versions of everything ready to go, and then we just gave them all to him and said, all right, what are you gonna do? You know? [00:16:04] Speaker C: And we just started practicing. Practices went very well. Shout out to Julian and Larry for letting us practice at their space over in Green island to make a. [00:16:15] Speaker A: A. [00:16:15] Speaker C: A good central location for us to get together and. And work on this stuff in a. In a really cool space that we could let these things breathe. And we had a lot of time before we went in to really work on it, too, which was nice. [00:16:31] Speaker D: Yeah. And we've been playing a lot of these songs live, like. Well, we've been playing all of them live. [00:16:37] Speaker C: Right. [00:16:37] Speaker D: For a while. That's another big difference is, like, this is the first time we've been able to, like, really road test all these songs and, like, have them sort of take shape through that process rather than, like, last time, you know, the last actual record we did, we. We hadn't even played a show. [00:17:00] Speaker B: Right. [00:17:01] Speaker D: You know, like, we had no idea what the hell we were doing. [00:17:05] Speaker B: Like, our bands played together. It was your second show ever. [00:17:09] Speaker D: Yeah. Found by Faith. [00:17:10] Speaker B: That's when we first played together. [00:17:12] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:17:13] Speaker C: Wow. [00:17:14] Speaker B: Right? See the homies. That's what I mean. We go way back. Way back. [00:17:18] Speaker D: Yeah. That was, like. That was three years ago. [00:17:22] Speaker B: Yeah. Something like that. [00:17:23] Speaker D: Yeah. It's been a long time coming, but we know what we're doing now. [00:17:26] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Yeah. It's. And it's funny how quickly you can go from like, being like, what are we doing? To, like, I'm a seasoned pro. You know what I mean? [00:17:34] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:17:35] Speaker B: If you're doing enough shows, like, six months, a year into it, you're like, I know what I'm doing, you know, and then it just gets. Gets tighter from there. But it's cool to be able, like, for me to be able to see bands play live and, you know, see them progress and go from like, you know, these guys are pretty good, to, like, wow, these guys are fucking killing it. You know? [00:17:58] Speaker C: That's how exactly how I feel about go. [00:18:00] Speaker B: Same. Same. They, like, like, wow. [00:18:04] Speaker C: Guys are really dialing it in. [00:18:06] Speaker B: Yeah. Doing bigger shit, too, like. Yeah. Playing, like, a live. [00:18:10] Speaker C: Those guys qu. [00:18:12] Speaker D: Right. [00:18:12] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:18:12] Speaker D: All Queen King Buffalo, like, right. Yeah. [00:18:17] Speaker C: So many. The list goes on around here. So many in all genres, too. [00:18:20] Speaker B: Absolutely. [00:18:21] Speaker C: Which is just great. [00:18:22] Speaker B: The. [00:18:22] Speaker D: The way I met them, was like a weird. Like, I. I was just like a weird creep and went to their show that they were playing. Like, that's not really a show, but they were playing the Jive Hive, and I just, like, showed up there and was like, hey, I think you guys are awesome. Our bands are probably similar. You probably haven't heard of us yet. We should be friends. And now, like. [00:18:46] Speaker B: And it probably worked, right? [00:18:48] Speaker D: Yeah, like, we're really good friends now. And, like, we played what, like, five shows together? [00:18:53] Speaker C: That's the door. [00:18:54] Speaker B: We're doing another Jive Hive thing. Nice. In the fall, in September, like, late September, I think. We don't know what we're doing yet, but we're gonna make it like a party. So I'm telling you because, you know, we'll want some. Some people there in real life, you know? Oh, yeah, Definitely. [00:19:10] Speaker D: Definitely a good time. [00:19:11] Speaker C: Short wave party. [00:19:12] Speaker B: Yeah, I'll let you. I'll let you know when that is. I think we might just do the album live, you know? [00:19:18] Speaker D: Yes. [00:19:18] Speaker C: Wouldn't that be cool? [00:19:19] Speaker B: Yeah, we'll do the album live and, like, bring in jb, obviously. [00:19:23] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:19:23] Speaker C: That performance at your birthday party was stellar. Just want to point that out. [00:19:27] Speaker B: Not so good. [00:19:28] Speaker C: Not to take this conversation more off of. [00:19:30] Speaker D: No, no. [00:19:30] Speaker C: Like, about our band. [00:19:31] Speaker B: No, we don't talk about whatever. [00:19:33] Speaker D: But you and I. You and I looked at each other when they were doing so good. We were like, like, holy. [00:19:37] Speaker B: I was so nervous because, like, he came over and we practiced like, once. Not one. Not one run through, but, like, you know, he was here for as well. He knew, but like, oh, man, it was so, so nerve wracking to be like, don't this. You know, to be like, yeah, I'm laying down the baseline. Yeah, jb. [00:19:57] Speaker C: Like, I hate. [00:19:58] Speaker B: I better not this up. [00:19:59] Speaker C: And it was such a fun collaboration. It looked like everyone on stage was having fun. It was awesome. The vibe of that song is great. I have no. I have. I had nothing bad to say about your guys's entire performance at that show and a lot of. Because I. I hadn't really seen it live before. [00:20:16] Speaker B: And that means the one and only time it had been. Yeah. [00:20:19] Speaker C: To see it done, like, so well. It was really. [00:20:22] Speaker B: And like, I'll. I'll probably censor it out of this episode, but I was telling Eric before. [00:20:32] Speaker C: That's so great. [00:20:34] Speaker B: Yeah. But I'm gonna edit it out so people would be like, what the. [00:20:36] Speaker D: Is that out? [00:20:39] Speaker B: I'm editing it out. I am gonna edit it out. It's so great. It's got to be a surprise. [00:20:42] Speaker C: There's a missing minute that happens on these devices. [00:20:44] Speaker B: There's not even a missing minute. I'll edit it out. [00:20:47] Speaker C: This is the power one out. No, we'll just say there's a missing minute. [00:20:50] Speaker B: Oh, right, right. [00:20:51] Speaker C: It's a missing minute every night. [00:20:53] Speaker D: It'll be like the. It'll be like the. The ones from the. [00:20:57] Speaker C: Let's forget about that as a country. [00:20:59] Speaker D: Gusapalooza. Power went out. [00:21:01] Speaker B: Oh, right, dude. Yeah, Power went out. We. We. Oh, man, that's actually happening this coming weekend. Like that. I was gonna go, but didn't work out. But I am gonna still try to go next year. Gusapalooza, if you didn't know, it was this festival up in Canada that I went to and they just like reached out to me and were like, hey, like the organizers. Like, hey, I dig what you do, you know, come on up. Yeah, whatever. No, I remember I went up there for like, you know, I was there for three days, 100 by myself. It was a 10 hour drive and it was the coolest time I've ever had. Like, everybody was so nice, welcoming and like. [00:21:43] Speaker C: Yeah, I would love to do that. [00:21:45] Speaker B: Yeah. Well, I'm gonna try to put it together. [00:21:47] Speaker C: Eric's practically Canadian. [00:21:48] Speaker D: I am practically Canadian. [00:21:49] Speaker B: Right, wow. [00:21:50] Speaker C: So, like, we should definitely. We should try to get on that. [00:21:53] Speaker B: We should. [00:21:54] Speaker C: Now Montreal, though, Why? I just. I want to be a lion. [00:22:00] Speaker B: Just the dead stare. [00:22:02] Speaker D: I used to go to that city all the time. [00:22:05] Speaker C: St. Catherine's is fun when you're like 20. [00:22:08] Speaker B: Yeah, I was gonna say I have. [00:22:10] Speaker D: Under 20, Catherine, since I was like 20. So. [00:22:12] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, we had some times. I'll tell you a story that definitely cannot go on the podcast, but I'll tell you a Montreal story that's pretty funny. But let's get back. Let's get back to the album. Let's get back to the album. [00:22:28] Speaker C: Yes. [00:22:29] Speaker B: So some of the songs had been written. Some of the songs had even been recorded but are now reworked. [00:22:35] Speaker D: No, no, no, nothing had been recorded. Oh, demo, yeah, they'd been demo versions. [00:22:42] Speaker B: Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. I thought you would actually. [00:22:45] Speaker C: Chewing stones. [00:22:47] Speaker D: Chewing stones. [00:22:47] Speaker C: We brought back from a. [00:22:49] Speaker D: An earlier record that was. Yeah. That was recorded and released on our first ep. [00:22:54] Speaker B: So, like, nothing was actually cracked for the album. [00:22:57] Speaker D: No, no. [00:22:58] Speaker B: Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. I thought you had, like, begun the process of recording some of this stuff and then switched halfway. Well, that's. But, you know, still, you still all. [00:23:07] Speaker C: Glad we could clear the Air. [00:23:09] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:23:10] Speaker C: Where they were when they met me. And then. Then we got in with Dave and everything really came. It was. That was a wonderful session. We got all nine tracks done in a day on drums. And then Eric, who just went mad scientist. Eric and Mike went mad scientist on the. On the rest of the. Of this. [00:23:28] Speaker B: Would you record Eric at your house? [00:23:30] Speaker D: Yeah. So we did all. We did all the drums with Mike and I playing live, but silently. [00:23:39] Speaker B: Sure. [00:23:39] Speaker D: At Dave's. And then just to give it a vibe. Yeah. And then we redid, like, we overdubbed all the bass and guitar parts at my house. We did all the vocals at my house. And then we even ended up with one song extra that will come out at some point. [00:24:03] Speaker C: That's a real opus. It's a real, you know, effort here. [00:24:06] Speaker D: Yeah, it's a real. It's a real. A real dumb song. But. [00:24:12] Speaker C: Well, just the entire out. Just the process of the ad, like the whole album and then the extra song coming in was just, you know, a good effort, I thought. [00:24:20] Speaker D: Yeah. We planned to do vinyl and this song wouldn't fit on if we were gonna do vinyl, so we left it off and I made like a. Another, like sort of instrumental track to. To tie things over if we go. [00:24:36] Speaker C: Gets way, way down. [00:24:38] Speaker D: Yeah. It gets weird. It gets heavier than we've ever been and weirder than we've ever been. [00:24:44] Speaker B: Nice. I like both of those things. Yeah. Well, we should hear another track from the album. So what are we gonna do now? [00:24:52] Speaker D: So let's do Chewing Stones. That sort of bridges the gap between, you know, this. This is the song that we had done before. We thought it didn't really get a fair shake before, you know, it's too good of a song to live on forever in the form that it was. So we wanted to redo it and shout out to our original drummer, Jeff, who the inspiration from this song came from, like a 15 year old demo tape that he played us, so. [00:25:23] Speaker B: Awesome. [00:25:24] Speaker C: Interesting. [00:25:25] Speaker B: Cool. Well, let's check out Chewing Stones, Black Tongue, Reverend and they'll be right back to wrap it up. [00:26:01] Speaker A: It's. [00:26:43] Speaker D: On the backs of sleeping giants or on the backside of my hand Am I the son of David or. [00:26:58] Speaker A: Am I the son of Sam? Sabre Just to let you drown I'll. [00:27:54] Speaker D: Build a cult around my image and turn a house of cards to gold I'll promise you the last. [00:28:40] Speaker A: Just to break you down Lead you to Oasis Just to let you drown Sam. [00:29:42] Speaker B: To. [00:29:42] Speaker A: Break you down Lead you to Oasis Just let you drown Sam. [00:31:05] Speaker B: All right, that was Chewing stones back, Reverend. And guys, I want to thank you so much for taking time out of your day to do this. This, you know, I really appreciate it. It's always cool to hang out, hang out with you guys. But before we go, I want to give you both a chance to say what I refer to as your gratitude. So, Jason, we'll. We'll start with you. [00:31:25] Speaker C: Oh, thank you very much. First of all, thank you for having us back, having the band back, having me back into the dazzle den. This is always a treat to come out here and see you. Big ups to shortwave radio band, to all your people and in your crew, because I love you guys and I love that everybody's doing great things around here. Big ups to all my other bands, because I'm just having an awesome new musical year this year. My band, no division, just representing the hardcore scene, which it's so funny to me because I have a lot of friends in the hardcore scene that know nothing of these other bands that we know. And then I know a lot of our friends that know nothing of what's happening in the hardcore scene. And I. I never realized before now, like, how polarized those two musical scenes were in. In this area. And they just don't overlap ever. And it's hilarious. Except right here, I'm this. I'm the. A zenith of the. [00:32:16] Speaker B: You're the overlap. [00:32:17] Speaker C: I am the overlap. Be overlapping. [00:32:20] Speaker B: And. [00:32:20] Speaker C: Yeah. Big ups to no division. Big ups to Gordon Street. Big ups to my twin bro. And, you know, just super happy to be a part of this musical journey with you guys. Eric and Mike, who could not be here. Miss you, bro. But we're doing it. And thanks, everybody. Thanks, you know, to the truth and the light, and that's about it. [00:32:41] Speaker D: Well, I gotta follow that up. [00:32:43] Speaker C: Yeah, you shouldn't let me go first. [00:32:44] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:32:45] Speaker B: The Truth in the Light is a tough actor. [00:32:48] Speaker D: Yeah. Well, the truth in the light. Yeah. Thanks, Andy. Yeah, I was gonna try to come up with something real quick, counterpoint, but no. Thanks, Andy, for having us back. You're one of the first people I met in this music scene, and you've been very, very, very helpful throughout our. My whole journey, which has been, you know, years now. [00:33:18] Speaker B: Right. [00:33:20] Speaker D: And thank you to my wife for letting us occasionally take over the house to record stuff and putting up with my general antics. Thank you to Jason for joining the band. [00:33:38] Speaker C: Hey, anytime. [00:33:41] Speaker D: That's. That's been huge. [00:33:45] Speaker B: We're. [00:33:45] Speaker D: We're glad to have you. And yeah, thanks to the whole. The whole music scene in this Lovely capital region that we have. There's so much talent here and it's so much fun meeting, meeting new people every day and, you know, being a part of their stories and being them being a part of mine. [00:34:14] Speaker C: That's awesome, Eric. [00:34:15] Speaker B: Cool. [00:34:16] Speaker C: I gotta swing back around and also give it up to my wife since I didn't do that first place. [00:34:21] Speaker D: I did that the first time we were on the show. [00:34:26] Speaker C: And I want to give it up to everybody who comes out and sees music and loves to watch music and loves to support local bands. I don't think we think we thank those people a lot, but I don't, you know, I want to make sure that we say that as well, that we love it when people show up. We love when people show up and they're into it. We, you know, it's always really cool. Like we were talking about earlier when venues are really into having bands. That's great. When like their staffs are really into to the band showing up. That's always fun. And just thank you everybody who always. Who come out and buy shirts and buy whatever and get stickers and slap stickers wherever. You know, it all helps. It all is part of the energy of the whole thing. So thank you all. [00:35:06] Speaker D: We're gonna, we're gonna play music regardless. But it's so, so, so much better when there's people there to see it sometimes. [00:35:14] Speaker B: Yeah, most, they are black tongue. Reverend I am Andy Scullin. This is unsigned 518 and I'll see you on the road. Unsigned 518 is produced and hosted by me, Andy Scullin.
