[00:00:00] Speaker A: Welcome to unsigned 518's Weekend Spotlight for the weekend of March 21, 2025. Got a great show coming up for you. Music from Drank the Gold. Shannon Taya, a little overboard arrow through me. Also going to check in with our friends Christian and Patrick at our band show. And so much more. Well, not really that much more. But anyway, without further ado, let's get started. [00:00:30] Speaker B: Such a good dud. The kind of guy that it's easy to talk to. He's got some cool stuff he'd like to share with you. Yeah, you. It's the weekend. You know what you should do? It's the weekend. Spotlight the weekend. All right. [00:00:45] Speaker A: All right. So up first on Friday, March 21st at the Cock and Bull, Drank the Gold. We'll be playing from six to nine. And right here I'm going to read from the cockandbowl.com it says part of the family round here, Oona Grady and James gas coin or Drank the Gold. Irish American contemporary traditionalists fill the dining hour with old time songs, tunes and cheer music from 6 to 9. No cover, reservations recommended. So that is Friday, Drank the Gold at the Cock and bowl. And if you want more information you can just go over to the cock and bowl.com and they have everything that you that you need there. But what we're going to do right now is play a song from Drank the Gold. This one is called what will we do? It's right here on unsigned 518's Weekend Spotlight. [00:01:31] Speaker C: What will we do if we have no money? O true lovers what will we do then? Only hawk through the town for a Hungary crown and we owed all it. [00:01:55] Speaker D: Over again. [00:01:59] Speaker C: What will we do if we marry a tinker? O true lovers what will we do then? Only sell a tin can and walk on with my man and we o do it over again what will we do if we marry a soldier. [00:02:59] Speaker A: O. [00:02:59] Speaker C: Chew lovers what will we do then? Only Handel is gone and we'll fight for the fun and we'll yodel it. [00:03:14] Speaker D: Over again. [00:03:19] Speaker C: What will we do if we have a young daughter? Oh true lovers what will we do then? Only take her in hand and walk on with nothing and we'll y over again what will we do if we have no money? Oh true lovers what will we do then? Only hop through the town for a Hungary crown and we'll yodel it over again and we'll yodel it over again. [00:04:43] Speaker A: That was trank the gold with what will we do here on Unsigned518's weekend spotlight. And up next on our calendar, Friday, March 21st at Lost and Found Feminomenon with Shannon Tea. It's a live sing along with the songs of Chapel Roan, Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor Swift. Also some dance performances. And it's brought to you by no one youe Know, the American foundation for Suicide Prevention and Lost and Found. So that is Feminomenon live sing along on Friday, March 21st. And what we're gonna do right now is play a song from Shanatea. This one is called Bitter Boys and it's right here on unsigned 518's Weekend Spotlight. [00:05:40] Speaker D: Little bitty bitter boys never learned how to enjoy the little actions, little things that Betty's taught them not to be so sensitive cause men don't cry Real men keep their pain inside Generations brought upon the notion that emotions roll Broken men made of broken boys Growing up with broken toys Teaching them that in this world is for little girls Touch another take your turn. Broken people never learn Broken bodies cannot yearn A broken world doesn't turn little bit better Boys never learned how to enjoy the little actions little things Their daddies taught them not to be so sensitive cause men don't cry Real men keep their pain inside Generations grow caught upon the notion that emotions. [00:09:03] Speaker A: That was Shannon Tea with Bitter boys here on Unsigned 518's Weekend Spotlight. And you can catch her on Friday, Feminominon, the live sing along. It starts at 9pm and it is a free show. I don't think I mentioned before what time it starts or the cost. 9pm It's 21 and up and it is a free show. So go check out Shannon the live sing along on Friday. So right now what we're going to do is check in with our friends Christian and Patrick at our band show. And if you're not familiar with our band show yet, I encourage you to go to YouTube and check out their page. It's something really, really amazing that they're doing for, you know, unsigned artists and smaller artists. Really giving them a platform, really giving them the superstar treatment and you know, they end up with a EP or an album, not only in video form but in audio form. But I've already talked too much. Let's turn it over to Christian and Patrick, see who they have on this week. And I'll be back with you in a little bit. So gentlemen, it's all yours. [00:10:08] Speaker E: Thank you, Andy, and welcome in to our band show. I'm Christian Ivanko. [00:10:13] Speaker F: And I'm Patrick W. Huber. This week we're excited to Share some news with music fans in the 518. [00:10:19] Speaker E: Our most popular performance on YouTube is from a band right here in the capital region, the Snorts. [00:10:25] Speaker F: A solid group that made it clear during our interview with them that hard work is the only thing that pays off. And networking with other bands is simply amazing. [00:10:34] Speaker G: There's very little stress to it. We want to play really well. We want to play. What was the phrase you said, Ryan, the other day? You know, play hard, don't suck, and have fun. That's what it was. [00:10:43] Speaker A: Yeah, pretty much, yeah. [00:10:44] Speaker G: That's kind of the mantra of it. But we're taking shows, and I mean, the goal is to just play as. As many shows as you can, write as many good songs as you can, and in hope that. That people still dig it and hope that you still dig it. I think if you don't have fun when you're. When you're playing your songs, then. Then stop playing them like you should. It should be fun. It shouldn't really be a fight. It can be if you're. If you're recording stuff, but it can be if you're working that out. But ultimately, when it's all worked out and you're in this room and we're just having fun with it, that's the goal. And however many people want to show up and watch us jam out to the tunes that we wrote, we think they're pretty good. That's the. That's the thing. Just hopefully more and more people keep coming out and supporting, and we. We love it. And I personally really enjoy going to shows and meeting bands and talking with them and just seeing what else. How people approach music and how they construct it. It's so cool to me, as a. [00:11:42] Speaker E: Musician myself, I can definitely agree with that. Networking in the music scene leads to many wonderful connections. [00:11:49] Speaker F: We're all about showcasing original music from great local bands. But when the Snorts joined us, they were the first group to ask if they could play a cover as part of their set. [00:11:59] Speaker E: Yeah, sometimes the COVID just fits into the performance. And the Snorts decision to play Chumbawamba of all bands and of all songs, the Day the Nazi Died was really no different. [00:12:10] Speaker F: As our current most popular video on our channel, we wanted to spotlight this. [00:12:14] Speaker E: Great performance, and it really was a killer performance. [00:12:17] Speaker G: So this next song is a cover, and it's originally by Chumbawumba, and it's a real bummer that we have to play it. It's called on the Day the Nazi Died, and it goes like this. [00:12:39] Speaker B: They're There and there everywhere. Here and there there and they're everywhere. Thought that after the war the Nazis Spanish without a Italians of fascists still dream of a master race. The history books they tell of their defeat in 45 why'd they all come out of the woodwork on the deep and ox inside they say the prisoners man now was symbol of defeat west remained in prison them fascists they were beat so the promise of an area world would never materialize. So why'd they all come out of the woodwork on the day knots who died Here and there There and there everywhere. Here and there There and there everywhere. The world is riddled with maggots and the maggots are getting fat. They're making a tasty meal of all the bosses of bureaucrats taking over boardrooms at that fat full of pride. They all came out of the woodwork on the table not to die to whip you in with these historians. I tell you what to say. Tell them that they' never really were the words throughout that burning house of doubt and pedal and racist lies. You'll never rest again till every knot dies. Dies, dies, dies, dies, dies, dies, dies, dies, dies, dies, dies, dies, dies. Will never rest again till every knot who dies. [00:14:26] Speaker F: And that's just one of several songs they performed with us on our show. My personal favorite is shut up for its aggressive in your face lyrics along with the high energy play. [00:14:36] Speaker E: Yeah, definitely. And if you want to see more, check out the Snorts on our website, ourbandshow.com or watch their full performance on our YouTube channel at our bandshow. [00:14:44] Speaker F: And finally, we're going live this Saturday, March 22nd on YouTube with the new Jersey band Inlet. [00:14:51] Speaker E: We've been talking with these guys during our preparation for this episode and they were so stoked that they just wanted to share with everyone how excited they are to perform. [00:15:00] Speaker A: What's up? [00:15:00] Speaker B: I'm Levi. [00:15:01] Speaker E: I'm Max. [00:15:02] Speaker B: I'm Matt. We're Inlet. We're super stoked to be a part of unsigned 518. Thanks, Andy, for having us. And we're super stoked this Saturday to be on the our band show. We're going to bring a bunch of energy, have a lot of fun. Check it out. Andy. [00:15:15] Speaker D: Andy. [00:15:15] Speaker A: Andy. [00:15:17] Speaker B: Thanks for having us. [00:15:18] Speaker F: We look forward to rocking out with Inlet at 8pm this Saturday, March 22. Join us on YouTube and ask a question in the chat. Andy, back to you. [00:15:28] Speaker A: Thank you so much. That is Christian and Patrick, our band show and putting a spotlight on the Snorts. Obviously, anybody who's listened to the show knows that I freaking love me some snorts. Those guys are really awesome. So on Saturday, March 22nd at Empire Underground, we have A Little Overboard. Seize Atlantis, the Hard Luck souls, Sons of Eden and Peter and Ello Band. The show starts at 6 and is just $15. So get out there, support live music and go check out the bands on Saturday. And what we're gonna do right now to get you ready for the show is we're gonna play a song from A Little Overboard. This is off their album that came out a little over a year ago, I believe it was. But go check that out on Spotify. I'll link to them in the show notes and everything. But this one's called Now It's Over. It's A little overboard on unsigned 518's weekend spotlight. [00:16:48] Speaker B: God knows how long it's been but now it's over Telling tales and twisted lies Almost had me hypnotized Looking deeply in your eyes but now it's over. [00:17:08] Speaker D: No I won't be the one to. [00:17:12] Speaker B: Say it's all right Cause now it's all right over. [00:17:18] Speaker D: Oh I don't know what the point was to you with me but now it's over. [00:17:40] Speaker B: Light running through my veins Held me tightly in your brains this truth you can't contain but now it's over Now I'm taking off alone don't you call I broke my phone you can hear it in my tone and. [00:17:59] Speaker D: Now it's over no, I won't be. [00:18:05] Speaker B: The one to say it's all right. [00:18:09] Speaker D: Cause now it's over Whoa, I don't know what the point was to you and me but now it's over it's over over it's now it's over oh I don't know what the point was to you and me but now it's over. [00:19:50] Speaker A: That was a little overboard with Now it's over here on Unsigned 518's Weekend Spotlight. And go catch them along with Ceeze Atlantis, the Hard Luck Souls, Sons of Eden and Peter Anello band at Empire Underground. This Saturday show starts at 6 and is only $15. So what we're gonna do right now is play a song off the Metroland now hot singles in your area. Official Spotify playlist. Every month TJ Foster over here at Metroland puts together a a compilation of songs from 518 artists that were released in the last month. And he puts out an article so that you can get familiar and stay current with what's been released. And then I Create a Spotify playlist and put it on Spotify so that you can listen to it while you're driving in your car or doing work or, or. Or doing whatever. But anyway, this one off the. The playlist is Arrow Through Me. They're gonna be on the show coming up in a couple weeks here, so look for that episode. And they're one of those bands that really super impressed me right out of the gate. And then I saw them live and it notched it up. I was like more impressed. So you have to check them out. Arrow Through Me, this is their latest. Right now the single is Guilty and It's here on Unsigned518's Weekend Spotlight. [00:21:20] Speaker D: It so slim you can't see it I've bitten so many bullets My teeth are broken and useless loves take care I still see who I loved in your eyes but through tears and clear lines Please don't ask me to come home Cause you've got nowhere to go you regret it the longer I stay the more I'll take. Don't go where I go leave me alone don't go, let go just leave me alone. You've wasted our time digging that tr. [00:24:16] Speaker A: That was arrow through me with guilty here on unsigned 5 and 8's weekend spotlight. And that is it for me. I want to thank you so much for listening, for supporting live music. It's the weather is getting nicer. There's certainly going to be a lot more music to support a lot more shows. So get out there and do your thing.
