Yeah.
DJ Weekend Spotlight.
[00:00:43] Speaker B: Hey, what's going on, everybody? Welcome to another episode of Unsigned 518's Weekend Spotlight. I am your host, BJ Swinghammer. Let's get into it. There's gonna be as far as the Swinghammers pick of the week. There's three today because not a whole lot going that I could grab and throw on to this. So, you know, I'm just gonna play some awesome music for you like I do. First up is the Batman himself, Lucas Garrett.
And this is Lucy Goose.
All right, that was Lucy Goosey from Lucas Garrett, AKA Batman. Because that dude is just everywhere all at once and he just sneaks up on you. It is amazing. Moving on now to James Mullen. James Mullen, also the head of House of M Entertainment, who is doing a lot for the food trucks and Thursday night markets that are coming up. So keep your eye out for that stuff because he always puts out an amazing lineup. And this is Winter's whale.
[00:04:42] Speaker C: I can see the pressure building
[00:04:49] Speaker A: like
[00:04:49] Speaker C: frozen water in the corner of a pipe.
And when it bursts without warning in the cold, I hope that I too will explode with the water and the ice.
Sweet relief which I'd been yearning for, but thought the stillness of the winter can't provide.
Yet there it was, like ancient wisdom bestowed on me in ways that I could not have yet foreseen.
And while the winds were whipping fiercely
[00:05:45] Speaker A: from the north
[00:05:48] Speaker C: with the specters of the past that they called forth,
[00:05:54] Speaker A: all
[00:05:54] Speaker C: the effort we put in make a once an army's rhyme.
While the frozen fields are thawing this old time, See the snow serene and
[00:06:11] Speaker A: peaceful,
[00:06:14] Speaker C: Accumulating ever softly on the roof.
And when it came like a brittle house of cards, It'll be rebuilt with something sturdier and sure.
On solid ground with good foundations built to last like so few things these days.
Yet there it stands, gallant and noble, Inspiring us to endure anything that comes our way.
And while the winds were whipping fiercely from the north with the specters of the past that they've called for all the effort we put in to make a once an unique rhyme While the frozen fields are thawing this whole time.
And could it be then we could be reborn?
Are we entering the great thaw of our lives?
Well into the cavern of your mind in hope that springtime finds a place our souls can all reside.
[00:07:55] Speaker B: Alright, that was winter's wail One of the new songs from this year from James Mullen. James, thanks a lot. I appreciate it. Awesome song. And now we are going into the Damsels. You know the Damsels revolutionary rock band that's been around be comprised of Andy Scullen, you know, TJ Foster and James Mullen. And it's an amazing group. They put out a really good album and this is Call it what It Is.
[00:08:20] Speaker A: Hey, it's racist, hey, it's classist hey, it's ageist hey, it's fascist, hey, it's ableist hey, it's populist hey, it's another group of anti semitists. Hey, it's sexist, ethno Semitism.
They're all narcissists and hypocrites. It's not dramatic, we're not acting, we're not overreacting. This is a nationalist. It's a distant. We've got a Call it what It Is.
[00:08:52] Speaker B: All right, that was Call it what It Is from the new album from the Damsels. Thanks a lot guys. Always, always amazing to listen to three superstars in the local area come together to put out an amazing album. And now we're on to one of my favorite segments of this. This is our band show. Every week we try to catch up with our band show and see what's going on, what they're doing because it's always incredible. Guys, what is going on with our band show this week?
[00:09:16] Speaker D: Thank you very much BJ and welcome in to our band show. Patrick W. Huber here, producer and director for an amazing team of recording artists aimed to film musicians in the Hudson Valley area and beyond this week. I hope you are ready to rock as we post music from the main event of our outing at Assembly, New York for the O Positive Music Festival.
Wild Pink can be described as a bridge between heartland rock, slowcore and some lush indie pop.
The band is led by John Ross and the group sound has evolved from minimalist indie rock to expansive atmospheric arrangements.
It took me a while to decide what band they most remind me of. And on my way to work recently, I was listening to the War on Drugs. It hit me that Wild Pink has a similar vibe while remaining distinctly themselves.
The one time I tried to see the War on Drugs was at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens a couple years ago. Unfortunately, due to traffic and crazy parking in the neighborhood surrounding the venue, I arrived late to catch only the final song of their set.
It was a really cool venue, but I learned the hard way that Forest Hill Stadium is a commitment. Better preparation could have avoided this minor disappointment, but hey, I still got to enjoy the national that played right afterwards.
All in all, I can't complain that much.
I think this is why I have a strong connection to our recording of Wild Pink. They remind me of a band I enjoy and their energy at the show got me absorbed into the chill mood of rock. It made working on the post production for this set of music really relaxing and just a simple joy to work on. That is why this week I want to spotlight Wild Pink's Cloud Our Mountain, recorded live at the 2025 O Positive Music Festival.
[00:11:13] Speaker E: How's everybody doing?
Thank you O Positive for having us.
Thoughts become reality in moments of total clarity.
