[00:00:01] Speaker A: He was born on a Saturday in 73 he loves punk rock music fighting the 13 cabin in the dazzle jazz Rocking out on the bass guitar With a short quick radio bass his motherfucking envy scrolling look at motherfucker cuz here he comes Andy Sculling wearing his orange hats.
[00:00:27] Speaker B: All right, welcome to Unsigned 51 8. Special episode, I guess we would call it. I'm here with Aaron Stokert of the Snorts, Ryan Train, A man must explore and Chad Flewling of Erie. How's it going, gentlemen?
[00:00:40] Speaker A: Great to be here, man. Love this podcast.
[00:00:42] Speaker B: Thanks. Thanks, man.
[00:00:43] Speaker C: Thanks for having us, man.
[00:00:45] Speaker B: You're very, very welcome, Chad.
[00:00:48] Speaker D: Good to see you again, Andy.
[00:00:49] Speaker B: Good to see you. It's just I was so weird to be like, hey, how's it going? Like, we've been talking.
[00:00:55] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:00:55] Speaker B: But anyway, this is a special episode in that it's an episode surround one event rather than, you know, focusing on one band. Obviously we have have three bands here and I guess, Ryan, we'll let you kind of start it off and really tell everybody what we're here for.
[00:01:16] Speaker A: Yeah, happy to do so, man. So, yeah, I'm here with these guys and we're putting on a pretty mega show at empire underground on April 19th. And it's not just any show. It's actually a benefit show for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
All the money from the show from the door and an extra component I'll talk about, it's also going to help generate some money and bring people together, really is all going towards, like, cancer patients for leukemia and lymphoma. So we ended up headlining a event last year because LLS does a big Albany event every year with what's called their Visionaries of the Year program. So every year they select a visionary and it's like somebody in finance or science or whatever, and they raise as much money as possible towards, like, leukemia lymphoma. Last year, the guy who asked us to do it organized the show and it was super fun in that we did it at the Italian American Heritage Center. But it was kind of a corporate gig. And you guys and your bands may have had that experience and nothing against them, it was cool. But they're in suits and they're in like. They're all trying to, like, impress each other. They're like, oh, we're very fancy here in our suits.
[00:02:37] Speaker B: We're all wearing suits right now.
[00:02:39] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm not wearing anything right now.
[00:02:41] Speaker B: That's true. That's true, Ryan. And Ryan is naked. We're all wearing Suits. Yeah, it's called security.
[00:02:46] Speaker D: Now.
[00:02:46] Speaker B: That's awkward, you know?
[00:02:50] Speaker A: Yeah, man.
[00:02:50] Speaker B: Sorry. Go ahead.
[00:02:52] Speaker A: But, yeah, they. This year's visionary asked us to do it again.
And I was like, okay, we can do that again. But I want to organize everything. I want to get my friends to play. I want to book the venue with my favorite people, and then I want to handle the promotion and put. Put it with all my homies. So that's kind of my requirement. Also, I wanted to make the tickets cheaper. Last year, they were like, 50 bucks.
[00:03:18] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:03:18] Speaker A: And none of our fans could afford that shit because they're all emo people who have, like, compared to gas, job, cars. Yeah, man. And, like, you know, like. Like normal people jobs.
[00:03:27] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:03:28] Speaker A: And so this year, I was like, I want to set the ticket price, too. So there are 20 online and 15. If you reach out to literally any of us, anybody in our bands, me or Aaron or Chad from Erie or any of us, we can get you physical tickets for 15 bucks. And all the money goes to cancer. And we're really doing it with total freedom from the venue. Mike Valenti from Empire Underground has been such a baller and that every crazy idea we've had, we're like, can we do this at the show? Can we have these people at the show? He's been like, it's your show. Do whatever you want. And we're like, all right, we're going crazy, then.
[00:04:03] Speaker C: Let's go.
[00:04:04] Speaker A: So we are, man.
[00:04:06] Speaker B: Tell me about some of the craziness. And also, you know, at some point, don't let me forget. I need to find out what my involvement is, because, like, I am involved. I am. I'm what, the host?
[00:04:17] Speaker A: Yes, you are the host. You are the mc, the man in the Orange house.
[00:04:20] Speaker B: Let's talk about that now. What is. What are my responsibilities going to be? What?
[00:04:24] Speaker A: It's what you do best, man. You're hyping people up, like, so it's. It's too.
Well, first of all, this is Aaron's idea to have Aaron to have you, Andy, MC the show.
[00:04:34] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:04:34] Speaker A: We were like, yeah, we need somebody who's like. Because there's an extra component to the show. We're doing a silent auction, and we're having a lot of, like, local makers and artists, like, involved who are gonna donate stuff, and it's gonna be like, this huge event with all this extra stuff going on.
[00:04:50] Speaker B: So there will be, like, information that'll. There'll be information to be shared, convey, or whatever.
[00:04:55] Speaker A: Yeah, there's also involvement of. We can talk about all this stuff. There's involvement of something called the Seat Center.
It's basically a. An organization which gives kind of underprivileged people who kind of had to fail out of high school a chance to get a ged and then they learn a trade. And I know the guy who's associated with that and he wanted to come represent his thing. And they're gonna be donating, drop and go catering for like, I think 15 people or something like that. So they'll do a dinner when somebody can bid on that and they'll do catering for that. So that's something they're donating.
So we kind of need some of this information communicated to the audience. So it represents the makers, brands really well in a way that is generated by somebody who's like a well known community leader. And we were like, I know a certain guy wearing an orange hat who could do that. And then I asked you and you were like, yeah, yeah.
[00:05:45] Speaker B: I said yeah immediately, didn't I?
[00:05:46] Speaker A: Without even knowing what you were gonna do.
[00:05:48] Speaker B: I still, up until like just now, I didn't even know what I was gonna do.
[00:05:52] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:05:53] Speaker B: I was just like, yeah, whatever you need. Like, let's do this. Yeah, yeah. So I can do that. I can. I can convey information and, you know, if there's raffles and all that. Yeah, there is. We got so many command doing crazy stuff. Yeah.
So the date this was the 19th.
[00:06:12] Speaker A: Yep, April 19th.
[00:06:13] Speaker B: Because I have another one on the 20th, which is a weed show. It's like the opposite of a weed show, unfortunately.
Well, I don't think they do like a benefit for weed.
[00:06:26] Speaker A: You know, everybody benefits from the weed.
[00:06:29] Speaker C: Yeah, everyone benefits from a weed show.
[00:06:31] Speaker B: Yeah, but that one's on 420. And it's funny to me that 420 is on like Easter and 420 this year. Like that.
[00:06:38] Speaker A: Wow.
[00:06:38] Speaker B: Hilarious. But this one is on 419 and it's at Empire Live.
[00:06:43] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:06:44] Speaker B: So what time does this. Is it an all day thing, an evening thing?
[00:06:48] Speaker A: No. So doors are at 6, probably start music at 7. And we're gonna have a bunch of makers there representing stuff. We're gonna have some, like, representation of their stuff in the back. So essentially, the way this all shook out is we were looking for a way to generate some extra money for the show that we can donate in addition to just the door, which, you know, should add up to a lot. We got a lot of people interested. But also we just thought it'd be cool if people could donate things and then Represent their company. For example, the guy from Adirondack, Pax, is associated. He makes these bags, and he's a very close friend of mine, and then he, you know, he sells these, like, handmade bags. So he's going to donate some stuff.
My wife, who makes hats out of, like, sustainable materials, her company called wonder and grace, is going to donate some hats. One hope, which is a division of the American cancer society, they make wine and, like, champagne and stuff.
They're donating 30 bottles of wine and stuff like that, each of which is worth at least $20.
So you get a raffle for 20 bucks, which is this kind of separate from the silent auction. So a different thing.
You pay $20, and you'll definitely get at least $20 worth of wine. But you might get a bottle of wine that's worth, like, a hundred dollars. All right, so they're donating that, and all the money goes to cancer.
[00:08:13] Speaker B: Every. Every bit of it goes.
[00:08:14] Speaker A: Yeah. Dude. I can't express how much, like, the more me and Aaron and the guys from Erie have had ideas for this, Empire has just greenlit everything, including us, like, raffling away alcohol to where, like, it's kind of amazing. Everyone's just been so excited about, like, contributing to this thing, and they get.
[00:08:36] Speaker B: To meet people, and they have the space. And, you know, for anybody who hasn't been in empire underground, they have the space in there to have tables and vendors and people set up and. And not really impede on any, you know, band space, whatever.
[00:08:51] Speaker A: Yeah, it's gonna be loud back there and moving around, dancing and stuff. But, hey, like, these are people. These are local makers who make cool, and they just want to engage with people, you know, so it works out for them as well.
[00:09:02] Speaker B: And it's good for them to, you know, because, you know, if someone's stepping up and. And joining for the. For a good cause, like, you can kind of assume that other people that are there, other vendors, other makers, are kind of good people as well. So, like, they'll meet even if they're not in the same, you know, thing. You know, there's always components where just knowing people in the community that are. That's what it's truly like, help, you know? Yeah.
[00:09:30] Speaker D: It's like the Internet, but in real life, right?
[00:09:32] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:09:33] Speaker D: Better.
[00:09:33] Speaker A: It's a product that actually exists. You could say, yes, it's true.
[00:09:36] Speaker B: It was like that. What was that? There was that chappelle skit where it was like the Internet in real life, where he's, like, walking through the Mall. And, you know, like, people would just come up and that would be like, the ads. They'd be like, hey, yes, it's the same thing, But. But the good stuff.
[00:09:50] Speaker D: Yes, exactly.
[00:09:51] Speaker B: Yeah. Networking event. I mean, you know, you three all know me. Like, getting to know people and. And building a community, and that's what moves everything, you know? Because if you're trying to do shit on your own or you're trying to steamroll other people to do things, it's never gonna work, you know?
[00:10:11] Speaker A: So, like, yeah, you've actually always had the philosophy, and I think you said in the first episode we ever did with you was, it's like, you've always been a real rising tide, raises all ships kind of dude.
[00:10:21] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. Well, that was actually Mikey Bash that said that. That quote. That was on episode one.
[00:10:27] Speaker A: But.
[00:10:28] Speaker B: But. Good memory. Good memory.
Yeah, that was episode one. Mikey said that. But we were sharing the philosophy.
[00:10:36] Speaker A: Yeah, there you go. That.
[00:10:36] Speaker B: Yeah, that. If you. You know, I. I like to go back to that movie Singles. Did anybody see that? Movie Singles?
It was like, Eddie Vedders. Eddie Vedders character. It was.
[00:10:48] Speaker A: Wow. Did he speak in all syllables?
[00:10:50] Speaker B: No, but the first line that he had in the movie, it was the same thing. And he says because, like, the review was basically shitty for the whole band, but that the lead singer was really good, and Eddie Vedder was the lead singer. He says, a compliment for me is a compliment for you.
And I used to always say that, you know, like, hey, they said something good about one of us, you know?
[00:11:15] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:11:15] Speaker B: It's got to count for something.
So there's. Everybody's going to be there. The makers are going to be there. It opens at six. Who's playing?
[00:11:24] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah, I don't think we've.
[00:11:25] Speaker B: I don't think we've talked about that, have we?
[00:11:27] Speaker A: We have. I pick my favorite bands to play on this, man. Like, people who are really, like, good acts who are super professional can really get after it and promote, like, it's their career, man. So we got the Snorts. Opening it up is going to be awesome with Aaron.
And then we have Erie, who I've Want. I wanted to play with you guys for. Forever. We've never played a show together.
[00:11:47] Speaker B: I know.
[00:11:47] Speaker C: It's. It's. We just get busy.
[00:11:49] Speaker A: That's what it's like, man.
[00:11:51] Speaker C: I'm sure everybody knows this. Like, you start booking, like, right now. Like, you're booking for November, so it. It just. It's. You have to wait.
[00:11:59] Speaker B: You guys are booking into November?
[00:12:06] Speaker C: I'm Exaggerating a little bit.
[00:12:07] Speaker A: Like you're always six to 12 months.
[00:12:10] Speaker B: That was just some self depreciating humor.
[00:12:12] Speaker A: I spot people still come to your shows, bro. You get, you get.
[00:12:16] Speaker C: Yeah, you get good shows and you're fun to watch play. So don't. Yeah, don't be so hard on yourself.
[00:12:23] Speaker B: Yeah, it's. It's what I do. It's more fun. I know.
[00:12:26] Speaker A: I mean this is.
[00:12:27] Speaker D: This is our first time playing with. With you guys.
[00:12:30] Speaker C: First time together, so. Yeah, it's gonna be a good. It's gonna be a really good show.
[00:12:33] Speaker A: I didn't know that. That's crazy.
[00:12:34] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:12:35] Speaker A: Did you guys meet today?
[00:12:36] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah, that's.
[00:12:37] Speaker B: Oh, no way. Yeah.
[00:12:39] Speaker A: You know what it's like. Okay, so this is the Albany scene. There's a. There's like gotta be over 100 bands in Albany.
[00:12:47] Speaker B: Some of them definitely, because we've played with like Ryan in our band, keeps track of how many different bands we played with. We played with 70.
[00:12:55] Speaker C: That's crazy.
[00:12:56] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:12:56] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:12:57] Speaker B: And we haven't played with, you know.
[00:12:59] Speaker A: There'S got to be hundreds and just Albany.
[00:13:02] Speaker C: So how many episodes are you on anyways?
[00:13:06] Speaker B: Like 2.70ish.
[00:13:08] Speaker A: Are most of those Albany area? It's 5. 1 8.
[00:13:12] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. 5 and 8. But that's just regular episodes. I have the weekend spotlight episodes too.
[00:13:16] Speaker C: Right.
[00:13:17] Speaker B: So like total episodes, I'm well over 300. It's a lot of acts, man.
[00:13:22] Speaker A: I remember when you started this podcast, you were like, I have a crazy idea. It's probably not gonna work.
[00:13:25] Speaker B: I know. I do remember that. And I didn't think it was gonna work. And then, you know, here we are.
[00:13:30] Speaker D: I mean, it's a good problem to have, isn't it? You've got. You've got literally hundreds of bands.
[00:13:34] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:13:34] Speaker D: In one area.
[00:13:35] Speaker B: And like that's the thing is I don't have to do any outreach.
[00:13:39] Speaker A: Right.
[00:13:39] Speaker B: Like, I don't ha. You know, sometimes I will, like if a band comes on my radar like that, you know, arrow through me.
[00:13:45] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:13:45] Speaker B: Like they weren't on my radar. Like I had not heard of them. And I saw them play live and I was like, holy, they're really good. And then I reached out, was like, hey, would like to have you on the show.
[00:13:53] Speaker C: Yep.
[00:13:54] Speaker B: But for the most part, people. I'll get someone to send me a dm. Hey, I would like to be on the show. Sure. Come on.
[00:14:01] Speaker D: I mean, we were talking about Community earlier and like all the cool that's happening for not only this show. And then talking about, you know, hundreds of bands in, in the Albany area. I keep thinking every time that we play a show, I'm always like, this is not guaranteed. It's not guaranteed that we can go and play our music anywhere. Anywhere.
[00:14:20] Speaker C: Right, Right.
[00:14:20] Speaker D: So, like, that just having people show up and say, cool, like, yeah, get up there and do your, your thing. And then to have other people who aren't musicians around and all, and then, then, but then, like, the end of it going, oh, by the way, we're gonna donate all this money to, like, a really good cause.
[00:14:35] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:14:35] Speaker D: That, to me is like the most badass thing that you could do with your art or do with, you know, what you're doing out there. You know, build a community and then do something good for.
[00:14:45] Speaker B: And again, just knowing that everybody there is there for a righteous reason, you know, like doing, doing a good thing and while putting on a show. Let's go.
[00:14:56] Speaker A: This show is going to go super hard, man. Like, I, like, I was able to pick these bands because it was like, these are super tight, big stage presence, crazy bands. The first time I saw Ear was actually with your band. It was a Halloween show.
[00:15:10] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:15:10] Speaker A: You were dressed up as Ghostbusters, were you?
[00:15:13] Speaker B: We were Average Joe's from Dodgeball.
[00:15:17] Speaker C: Dodgeball, yeah.
[00:15:18] Speaker A: That was a crazy show, man.
[00:15:19] Speaker B: Yeah, I remember that show. Yeah. I have Fly. I, I almost certainly have that flyer somewhere. I keep a lot of flyers.
[00:15:28] Speaker A: Yeah. But yeah, there's, there's just like, the choice of bands was, like, very specific. And I was like, these are my first choices. And I ended up getting them. So we're gonna have, like, really great music.
And, and people were releasing stuff around then, too. You just released your album.
[00:15:44] Speaker C: Yeah, on the 21st of February, so.
[00:15:48] Speaker D: And it slaps.
I listen to it on the way up here.
[00:15:51] Speaker C: I appreciate it. I, I, I enjoy it quite a bit. It's very proud of it. We really, really worked hard on it.
[00:15:58] Speaker B: And that's that the highs, the lows, and everything in between for, for those that don't recognize the sultry voice of Chad Flew of the band.
[00:16:06] Speaker D: And I mean, I mean this as a, you know, you know, as a massive compliment. Like, the, the album and, and your, your guys's music in general reminds me of, like, if the Mountain Goats discovered Distortion, they were like, you know what I'm saying?
[00:16:18] Speaker B: Oh, wow.
[00:16:19] Speaker D: Like that to me, I was like, yep, there we go.
[00:16:22] Speaker A: That's where it is.
[00:16:23] Speaker B: That's solid.
[00:16:24] Speaker A: You know what they say about the Mountain Goats is if a girl's super into the Mountain goat. She's going to ruin your life. I wonder if. What if the girl's early into Eerie, will she ruin your life?
[00:16:32] Speaker B: No, because. No. There's distortion in it.
[00:16:34] Speaker C: Yeah.
Everything's so much better.
[00:16:37] Speaker B: Everything's better. It's got distortion in it. But it is really good. But yeah, actually there's a bunch of people in town and some one that I don't even think like, you know, personally that had said, oh, I've been listening to that Eerie album over and over. It's so good.
[00:16:52] Speaker C: Yeah, that's cool. I appreciate it.
[00:16:54] Speaker B: People love that. People love it.
[00:16:57] Speaker C: Alec Lewis produced it and then is now playing guitar for us.
[00:17:01] Speaker D: Oh, is he playing guitar for you guys?
[00:17:03] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:17:03] Speaker D: Hell yeah. What's up Alec, if you're listening. Hell yeah.
[00:17:05] Speaker C: Yep.
[00:17:06] Speaker B: He won't be.
[00:17:06] Speaker C: He might be.
[00:17:08] Speaker B: Maybe if we tell him. Maybe if we tell him we talk about it. Yeah. And we won't tell him if it's.
[00:17:13] Speaker C: In a good way or bad. Hey, you got to listen to this when we talk about you.
[00:17:16] Speaker B: Yeah, but don't say in a good way or bad. Just be like.
[00:17:19] Speaker A: Just that.
[00:17:20] Speaker B: Yeah, there's a.
[00:17:21] Speaker C: Your name is.
[00:17:22] Speaker B: Your name is brought up a couple of times. That's all. I'm gonna.
[00:17:27] Speaker A: We're not going to say whether it was positive or negative.
[00:17:29] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[00:17:30] Speaker A: But we got people releasing music around that. We're releasing a single. It's our last single we're going to release before our record the day before on 418. And that helped us get extra promotion for the show also on like radio stations. Because radio stations are pretty happy to play your single like EQX and WEXT W A B Y. They were like pretty psyched to just like play music before you're releasing. That's like a fun thing for them.
[00:17:55] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:17:56] Speaker A: And there was. I was like, could you mention this show? And they were like, yeah.
So like the homies were tight with from like radio stations like Ralph Reyna and. And those people have also been like super supportive of it. It's amazing what you can do when you just like, oh, we're gonna do a thing for cancer people. Like cancer. Yeah, cancer sucks. Let's do a crazy thing, right?
[00:18:15] Speaker C: Everybody's touched by it.
[00:18:16] Speaker B: So I was gonna, I was just gonna say like there's nobody like you can't especially you know, at my age, like there's nobody who is not affected by it like that, you know, like that's. That would be a unicorn to be like oh yeah, I don't Know anybody that's ever been affected. So that's why it's so, so good. I think it'd be.
[00:18:34] Speaker A: Yeah. We were happy to be able to have the amount of free we were only going to do if we had the amount of freedom we have. And now that we have it, we're like, we're. We can go really crazy with it. The visionary of the year this year is actually a friend of mine. Her name is Erlika. She works for Regeneron. Oh. I didn't even tell you guys this.
[00:18:49] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:18:50] Speaker A: This is crazy. This is very exciting. Regeneron's breaking match, everything we raised for this show.
[00:18:55] Speaker D: Really?
[00:18:55] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:18:57] Speaker C: Crap, dude, that's awesome.
[00:18:59] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:18:59] Speaker A: We can, like, really get it going here. I should have said that earlier.
[00:19:02] Speaker B: Yeah, you probably should have mentioned. You should probably should have led to that, you know, you should have led.
[00:19:07] Speaker D: With that before the.
[00:19:07] Speaker A: Although I was all excited about getting my friends.
[00:19:10] Speaker C: I know, but we're like 20 minutes in, like.
[00:19:14] Speaker B: Where you got to get.
[00:19:16] Speaker A: You got to get into the episode. Yeah. Everything.
[00:19:18] Speaker B: You got to get deep together. Yeah. That's what you do. You push it. We'll just keep it. Every once in a while, just add like a wait for it tag, you know, Wait for it, wait for it. Information is coming. Be crazy.
[00:19:29] Speaker A: Yeah. So, like, the door is all going to the cancer and then everything from the silent auction. I should probably mention a couple of the people on the silent auction who have donated stuff.
[00:19:42] Speaker B: Do it. That's why we're here.
[00:19:42] Speaker A: And we're welcome to get more makers if, like, makers. Listening to this, like, you make a cool piece of art or you make jewelry or you make whatever. Like, you can donate a thing and you can come to the show and represent your brand and be like, this is what I make. I'm just trying to meet people. I'm trying to get people interested in my company because they know this as well as we do. They live in a different universe than, like, Aaron, Chad, and I in you, Andy. But it's like a similar thing that they know they have to meet people and they have to engage and they have to have a story and they have to, like, meet cool people and attract people to their thing. So this is a very good thing for them, too.
[00:20:18] Speaker B: Yeah. And this. I mean, this episode is coming out, like, just a couple days from when we record it. So there's still plenty of time. Like, if you're. If you're listening to this, there's plenty of time before 4:19. Right. So, I mean. Yeah, if someone reached out to you now as you're listening to the episode, the second it drops.
[00:20:37] Speaker A: Yeah, man.
[00:20:37] Speaker D: Would you want them to reach out to you directly or.
[00:20:39] Speaker A: Yeah, they can. They can DM Mammoths Explorer band or on Instagram or email mammothexplore.bandgmail.com. and, you know, I answer that, like 30 times a day, so I'll get to them. But yeah, we've got. So Adirondack. Pat from. His name is Pat Catalano. And we're. I was busking at the J Street Market just for fun, and we became friends because he actually runs J Street Market in Schenectady, and there's a ton of makers there who are, like, going to be involved with stuff.
Wonder and Grace will donate, like, some, like, fiber art stuff, hats, things like that. Mike Valenti, actually from Empire. Okay, so shout out to Mike, because I called him after I'd already asked all these people to do this, and I was like, hey, Mike, I got a. I got a. I hopefully say yes to this. Full disclosure, I've already done it. Can we have a silent auction where people bid on things and then donate the money? And he's like, yeah, you can do whatever you want. And I have a whiskey company and I'll donate stuff to your thing. I'll donate a package of whiskey for Brick by Brick.
[00:21:48] Speaker C: Let's go.
[00:21:48] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:21:49] Speaker A: So he's been such a baller.
[00:21:50] Speaker B: Picked the wrong time to quit drinking, apparently.
[00:21:53] Speaker A: Yeah.
Yeah. Are you just on a break or you're done with it?
[00:21:58] Speaker B: No, I'm done with it.
[00:21:59] Speaker A: Yeah, I remember. You did a break.
[00:22:00] Speaker B: I did, yeah. I did a couple of breaks. I did a couple of, like, three months, like, breaks or whatever. Yeah, it'll be a year in May.
[00:22:08] Speaker A: Wow. Good for you, man.
[00:22:10] Speaker B: Just done. Done with it.
[00:22:11] Speaker A: That rocks. I do two a week. I've done that since Halloween of 2023.
[00:22:16] Speaker B: Do two what, a week?
[00:22:17] Speaker A: Two drinks a week.
[00:22:18] Speaker B: Oh, two drinks.
[00:22:19] Speaker C: I thought you're like, I take two breaks.
I'm steady drinking except for till Wednesday, and then I got to take a break until it was easy, man.
[00:22:26] Speaker B: I' that's 100% what I thought you meant. Like, yeah, I take two breaks a week. Like, I don't. I don't drink on Tuesday and. And Thursday.
[00:22:35] Speaker D: This episode doesn't get released. It goes right to Ryan. This is actually. Sorry.
Yeah, Sorry, dude.
Sorry.
[00:22:42] Speaker B: We got some people.
All right, cool. So I'm going to start recording now.
Now that. Now that we could tell Ryan in ways that he's disappointed us have let you guys down?
[00:22:55] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:22:56] Speaker B: Yeah. But no real reason. I just got like, bored. Bored with it, I guess you could say, like the. The buzzed feeling just like started not feeling fun, I guess, if that makes sense. I was like, I really like this. I'm gonna stop. Plus, weed is, like, legal and.
[00:23:13] Speaker A: And that's what I was gonna ask you. Are you still hitting the weed?
[00:23:16] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, yeah, Big time.
[00:23:18] Speaker C: Yeah, it's a good time.
[00:23:19] Speaker B: Yeah, it is a good time. I don't know if you noticed the. The jar behind me. It's like a fucking 10. The 10 gallon jar of weed.
[00:23:27] Speaker A: Bob Marley says alcohol just make you drunk.
[00:23:29] Speaker B: Oh, wait, that's not even a small one.
[00:23:32] Speaker A: Yeah, and I respect that.
[00:23:33] Speaker B: So, yeah, so, yeah, I just stick with the California sober.
It's what the kids.
[00:23:40] Speaker A: What the kids would say the next short wave single. California sober.
[00:23:44] Speaker B: Right. No.
[00:23:46] Speaker A: Yeah. So, yeah, we got some makers involved with the show and that's gonna be a lot of fun. I might be forgetting some, but we'll be posting about them and do all kinds of stuff. So Erleka and Madison from Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Pat, Mike, all the makers who are donating stuff to contribute one Hope and Pat Corrigan from the Seat Center. Oh, I should mention I mentioned that. So the Seat Center, I had briefly said. Yeah, is this thing that gives people, like a second chance to get a GED in a trade.
That's a really cool organization because they'll take people who like, either had like, some violence or some like, criminal thing going on or otherwise dropped out of high school, and they can either learn film and it's a.
It's kind of like who they get to volunteer their time and be able to teach these trades. So one of them is film, which is really interesting. And they'll do music videos for bands, by the way, for pretty inexpensive. So that's a cool thing to think about.
And the people who listen to this podcast might be interested in that. And they also do, like, food service and they'll. They're gonna donate to the show on 419 a drop and go. Catering for 15 people. So you can have like an event and you can just bid whatever on this thing and then get catering for that. And the food's crazy. I had them cater my wedding.
[00:25:13] Speaker B: Oh, congratulations. No, wait, I have seen you since then, haven't I? Yes.
[00:25:16] Speaker A: I don't know. I think I teach it pretty often, but yeah, I'm married and.
[00:25:20] Speaker B: Congratulations.
[00:25:21] Speaker A: Yeah, thank you, man.
[00:25:22] Speaker B: And my wife, I'll say congratulations again, but I have seen you since then.
[00:25:25] Speaker A: Yeah, I got you. Yeah. And that's kind of a cool thing Seat center does. So they'll come and, like, have representation, and anybody who does. Who donate stuff, we're gonna have signage and, like, banners and stuff that list all the companies who have donated stuff. So I do need to know, like, probably two weeks before this, maybe, like, a week before the show. I can get that done. So if you tell me by the end of the first week of April that you want to donate something, I'll have your company's name on signs that say, it's like you contributed to the show.
[00:25:57] Speaker B: And, you know, you brought me tickets. You brought me two tickets. But I'm. I'm.
I'm confidently saying that as the mc, I am not gonna need the tickets.
[00:26:07] Speaker A: I don't want you to deal with anything, man. So your orange hat.
[00:26:10] Speaker B: I think we should probably get, like. I should. Should we give the tickets, like, give the tickets away on, like, social media or something?
[00:26:16] Speaker A: That'd be awesome.
[00:26:17] Speaker B: Yeah, we'll do it after the episode comes out. So you. The episode will come out on Friday, and, like, maybe, like, midday Friday or whatever or. Or Friday evening or Friday afternoon. I'll do a little quick.
[00:26:32] Speaker A: Yeah, that'll be sick.
[00:26:32] Speaker B: Figure something out.
[00:26:33] Speaker A: Yeah, that'd be cool.
[00:26:34] Speaker B: Give some tickets away.
[00:26:35] Speaker A: Great idea, man.
[00:26:36] Speaker B: And that's just. And that wasn't. I know that sounded like it was, like, planned. Like, I literally was just like, oh, wait, there's tickets. I can give them away. So I'll have to figure out the details, but it'll. It'll be good.
[00:26:49] Speaker C: The magic number is 47.
[00:26:52] Speaker B: Oh, okay.
[00:26:53] Speaker C: And then that's how you win.
[00:26:55] Speaker B: Perfect. Go. The first.
[00:26:57] Speaker A: The first person sounds like a. Like a weird number that there's, like, cults dedicated to 42.
[00:27:02] Speaker B: No, no, no. What else? What I'm gonna do now. What I'm gonna do is, like, that. Seriously. Maybe I'll do that. Is. I'll be like, you gotta go listen to the episode and. And say what? What? The magic number. Chad says first, and the very first person to DM me. The correct answer gets the tickets.
[00:27:24] Speaker A: Oh, brilliant idea.
[00:27:27] Speaker B: That's how I'm doing it.
Yeah. Yeah.
[00:27:30] Speaker A: That rocks.
[00:27:31] Speaker B: Yeah. All right, what else?
[00:27:36] Speaker A: Let's see if I cover everything. We're doing the silent auction. We're doing the. The wine raffle. We're getting stuff donated from Brick by Brick Wonder and Grace Adirondack packs. Any other makers want to be involved with it? Seat center.
Rory Graham was super cool enough to Write us a really cool article in Metroland describing the show.
All these radio stations have been so, like, generous with their time, and Mike's actually talking about it right now on Ralph Reyna's show for wby. And, yeah, we're super grateful to the response from the community for this thing, and we're just looking forward to putting together a great show. It's the only show my band is doing that is in Albany of our spring tour. We're doing one Albany show. That's it. And we just want to put all of our energy into making this one crazy. So this is where we're at, man. We're just grateful to everybody for putting their energy and vulnerability and their project into it.
[00:28:33] Speaker B: Anything anybody wants to add, we're just.
[00:28:35] Speaker C: Really excited to be a part of this and very honored to be asked and can't wait to just get down and rip and.
[00:28:41] Speaker A: Yeah, man. You guys were some of my first choices. Snorts and Erie. I was like, this is gonna be fine.
[00:28:45] Speaker D: Yeah, we're. We're also super. I mean, I echo you, Chad. We're very excited for it. And just an opportunity to play with these guys. Both, man, must explore. And Erie is. Is gonna be fantastic. And then the icing on the cake, Andy's hosting. I mean, like, it's just gonna be a fun night.
Yeah. Yeah. Everybody should come out. And it's for a good cause.
[00:29:06] Speaker B: Hell, yeah. I'll be all ripped on weed sodas.
[00:29:08] Speaker D: There you go.
[00:29:10] Speaker A: I had a bunch of those in New Orleans. Those are crazy.
[00:29:12] Speaker B: Yeah, I've got a whole bunch of them in my refrigerator right now. Yeah, they are. They are crazy.
[00:29:16] Speaker C: They're pretty great.
[00:29:17] Speaker B: They're really great.
You know, I've heard people talking shit about it being like, yeah, they don't really affect me. I'm like, oh, yes, they do.
[00:29:24] Speaker A: Yeah, they affect me. Me and my wife got trash on them in New Orleans. That was great.
[00:29:27] Speaker B: Yeah, I love them. And, you know, I wake up the next morning feeling fantastic.
[00:29:32] Speaker C: Normal.
[00:29:32] Speaker B: Yeah, like, normal.
[00:29:33] Speaker A: Oh, and shout out to Regeneron. Thank you for matching everything.
[00:29:36] Speaker B: Yeah. That's crazy.
[00:29:37] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:29:37] Speaker C: That is super insane.
[00:29:38] Speaker A: They're cool.
[00:29:39] Speaker C: Levi actually works there.
[00:29:41] Speaker A: Really? That's crazy. That would have been a great. Yeah, we did it through a nice tire, you know?
[00:29:45] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:29:46] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:29:46] Speaker B: Sweet. All right, well, I guess if there's nothing else, I mean, we got a. Got a solid 30 minutes out of that. That was. That was good.
[00:29:54] Speaker A: Yeah, man.
[00:29:55] Speaker B: Cool. So Chad Flewelling of Erie, Ryan Treen of Mamma's Explorer, Aaron Stogart of the Snorts all getting together and doing this fucking fantastic event. And I'll be MCing and silent auctioning and. And dancing. I'll be doing some. No, I won't be doing any of that. But anyway, we'll see you there at Empire underground April 19, and I look forward to giving away those tickets.
