This episode was supposed to air before the Nolanauts Mardi Gras show at Nanola, but unfortunately due to my computer being in the shop, that couldn't happen. Luckily my computer is back, so it may be a bit late to catch their show, it's never too late to rock with Nolanauts!
Tom is the owner of Jive Hive Live, which is not a professional music venue, but rather a place for friends to hang out and make music. Several 518 bands have gone to Tom's place and played some music. live stream the performance, or even make an album with the recordings. All of this is done with no money or incentive exchanged. Again, it is just a place for friends to gather and make music. A very magical place.
Tom is also in Nolanauts, which is an amazing funk/rock/soul band with a very heavy lean on the feel and influence of New Orleans music and culture. In this conversation, Tom and I not only discuss the Jive Hive and Nolanauts but how NOLA inspired Tom and why he feels that music deserves representation in the 518. Nolanauts just released their first original single and along with their blistering live shows, you can expect a ton more from Tom, Nolanauts, and Jive Hive Live.
