Got some music coming up from tv doctors, space trash, Annie in the water and much more. Also gonna check in with my buddies in bad music club for a band that we should know. And we're gonna play some music off of Metroland now's official Spotify playlist. So without further ado, let's get started. [00:00:27] Speaker B: It's motherfuckin Andy motherfuckers in bedazzled. And if you're in a local band and you're passing through town, stop by when the trains come out. You're at the dazzle bed with those creepy mama pump. You're at the dazzle bed with those creepy mama pump. [00:00:47] Speaker C: You're at the Dazzle den with those creepy mama pop. [00:00:51] Speaker B: You're at the Dazzle den with those creepy star. [00:01:19] Speaker A: So the first event I have off the Metroland events calendar is tv doctors at Wolf Hollow. And that is tomorrow night, Friday, October 25. Show starts at 06:00 and goes until 09:00 at Wolf Hollow Brewing Company, 68 82 Amsterdam Road in Schenectady. And I have right here in the tv doctor's own words. Tv doctors are an experimental instrumental trio from upstate New York. We are trained professionals here to treat your musical boredom and its unfortunate side effects. We specialize in psychedelic rock, funk, soul, dub beats and noises. And I spoke with the guys and tv doctors today and asked them to send me along a song for the episode. So right now I have a medley of covers that they call the world is a napkin. And it's right here on unsigned 500 eighteen's weekend spotlight. [00:03:31] Speaker B: Sadeena, Sadeena, Sadeena, Sadeena, Sadeena. Radhe Wadde. [00:10:26] Speaker A: That's TB doctors with a medley of covers called the world is a napkin here on untimed 500 and eighteen's weekend spotlight. Alright, so again, taking a look at the Metroland events calendar, on Saturday the 26th, we have space trash and tumble stop at Unahog at two Center street in Hoosick Falls. The show starts at 07:00 p.m. and if you have not been out to unahogget, shame. No. Jason and the team that he's assembled over there are doing a ton for local music and live music and just the the community in general. So go support Jason and Unihog and everything that they're doing for music and the community, because they're. They're awesome. So go check them out. And right now, we're going to hear a song from space trash. This is legs, and it's right here on unsigned 518. Weekend spotlight. [00:11:49] Speaker B: Hard to feel, always want you by my side I'm so happy you got what I need. Oh, you got me ran? I just wanna wrap you around the night from my legs upon your shoulders when I go in anywhere I've got eyes for you, baby, you got all I need? I can take you where you wanna go. Come on baby, hurry down the slow. Feeling kinda lonely by myself you're all I can think of? Always keep me guessing but I don't have a clue how you make it feel so right I wish I know my time trying to figure out? But instead I've just gone down? You got me random in my mind I just wanna wrap you in the night? Throw my legs up on your shoulders highlight. We're not going anywhere now. You don't have to come. I will take you there. You don't have to come. [00:15:11] Speaker A: That was space trash with legs. And you can catch them Saturday at Unahog. And Unahog is located at two Center street in Hoosick Falls, New York. And right now I actually have a guest in studio, Michael Lashom of Annie in the water. We're practically neighbors. He lives right around the corner. So I'm just going to take a real quick break, and then we'll be right back to talk with Michael Lashomme of Annie in the water. All right, what is. And, you know, I pronounced your name Lashawn before I went into. And I think we had said it was interchangeable. Right. It could be Lasham. Lashawn. Well, I went with Lashawn, but anyway, I'm here with Michael Lasham of Annie in the water. How's it going, man? [00:16:00] Speaker C: Great. It's good to be here with you, brother. Thank you. [00:16:03] Speaker A: Yeah. And it's cool because, you know, a lot of the times when it's just like a quick segment on the show, I do it over the phone because it makes sense. But you live, like, I mean, you were in the car, what, two minutes? Two minutes, maybe two and a half. [00:16:16] Speaker C: It was an inconvenient minute and 45 seconds. [00:16:18] Speaker A: Yeah. So you live very close. So I was like, fuck it. Just come on over and we'll do it in person in the dazzle then. [00:16:24] Speaker C: The. [00:16:24] Speaker A: Yeah, we're standing here in the dazzle then. And we want to talk because Annie in the water has a new album that is coming out tonight, correct? [00:16:36] Speaker C: Yes. Very excited. New album that we've been working on the past year called things to do. And it's coming out tonight at midnight. Midnight. Tonight at midnight. So Friday. And we're very excited about that. We've been working on it. It's our first album with Josh west, our drummer. He was our former drummer. Summer kind of went off, did a different project, came back to the band, and this is the first time we've all worked on it on this album. So we are just very excited. And a very great collaborative album with a bunch of new stuff, very different, different styles that we're incorporating, but all good things. So we are super, super stoked about it. [00:17:18] Speaker A: And it's, you know, being that we're, I guess, recording an album, it was always a debate about how many songs make an album. So just totally off the cuff. How many songs do you think makes an album as opposed to an ep or. Or is it time based? [00:17:36] Speaker C: Yeah. So that's where, from our approach, we. It comes down to the old school way of, I feel like an album is definitely enough to fill an a and b side of a record, you know, so filling in that amount of time, because we are going to be making this a record to a vinyl. [00:17:56] Speaker A: Vinyl. [00:17:56] Speaker C: Vinyl. So, yeah. So on a vinyl, how much time does that take? So our thoughts was, you know, as long as you fill an a and a b in the time frame, that's a legitimate album. [00:18:08] Speaker A: And. [00:18:08] Speaker C: But also, it's like, from a number standpoint, I feel like, you know, eight 8910, but that quadrant, you know what I mean? Like, we're doing eight ep is four. Because typically an ep is four, where it's like, well, if you double that, wouldn't that make that an album? So therefore eight, you know what I mean? [00:18:23] Speaker A: Yeah, because we started out making an ep, but then we were up to eight songs, and then we had the realization we're like, oh, wait, are we making, like, an album for sure? [00:18:31] Speaker C: Full length? [00:18:31] Speaker A: Yeah, it's full length. It's a full length. [00:18:33] Speaker C: It's a full length album. [00:18:35] Speaker A: So how many songs are on your album? [00:18:39] Speaker C: You know what? I should know that, but I don't remember. [00:18:43] Speaker A: I love it. [00:18:44] Speaker C: Yeah, definitely more than eight. [00:18:46] Speaker A: And I love that. Just before we got rolling, you were on the phone trying to call members of the band to find. To make sure. To make sure the album was coming. You know, you're like, is it tonight midnight? Or is it like, at the end of Friday as Friday rolls into Saturday? [00:19:03] Speaker C: What timeline for tonight? [00:19:06] Speaker A: As Thursday rolls into Friday? Yes. [00:19:09] Speaker C: There are ten songs on the album. [00:19:11] Speaker A: Ten songs on the album. That's awesome. [00:19:13] Speaker C: Well, I'm really. I'm really the great one for here. [00:19:20] Speaker A: You're here. I know you're here in person. We're literally promoting it now. We didn't talk about this before. That's kind of my bag because, you know, I'm in the middle of a million things. But we need to play a song. An Annie in the water song. [00:19:35] Speaker C: Yes. [00:19:36] Speaker A: Now, I don't know if we have something from the new album that we can preview or if we want to go something older. We can do whatever you want. [00:19:45] Speaker C: Yeah, well, yeah, I have actually, a private link for the album that we could actually play something. [00:19:52] Speaker A: Sure. [00:19:53] Speaker C: So what? And so we'd be playing that? Yeah. Yeah. Well, I'd be. I would say. I mean, there's a song that I wrote. I could be selfish and so let's do that one. But I won't. Yeah, I'd probably say. I'd probably say, mama, I'd like to play that one. It's. It's, you know, that's the cool thing. It's like there's really. There's. There's like. There's a different flavor. Everybody puts in on it. So it's like. It's hard to say, like, what's the one you would play and what's the single? You know, I just. This one is so all over the map with. We have got a reggae song. We got an r and b song. We've got a acoustic kind of driven song. We've got this kind of rock song. We've got jazz fusion on here. We've got out of phase, which is like the psychedelic samba kind of thing. And then, yeah, it's kind of all over the map. [00:20:44] Speaker A: And where did you record this? [00:20:46] Speaker C: So this was recorded at Bijou Studios in Malta, New York. So shout out to Corey Hayward, who did a fantastic job on the production of this album. [00:20:53] Speaker A: That's the one right behind. [00:20:57] Speaker C: Me. [00:20:58] Speaker A: Did I tell you that one time when we were playing Enola, and all of a sudden I'm, like, walking out back and there's matt standing right there. And I'm like, the fuck are you doing? And he's like, oh, we're recording, like, right over here. And I was like, I literally didn't even know there was a. Behind this building. There's like a whole legit record in the studio. So he brought me in and gave me a tour of the whole thing. So that must have been during the sessions. [00:21:20] Speaker C: Yeah. So, yeah, we were there and, you know, we did a couple things. We did a couple things in my cabin in old Saratoga Mercantile. We recorded my guitar part for Lake Placid in my cabin. So I'm pretty. I'm really happy that that was able to make that. So there is some credit to my. My fam over there, Tim and Christina over at old Saratoga Mercantile. And, yeah, everything really focused on in Bijuu Studios. We wrote a. The album and a lot of these songs collectively at Chris Meyers family's cabin down near Chatham, New York. So we went out and we just woodshed it and we came up with a bunt. Like, you know, we came up with our out of phase and our. And our things to do. And a lot of these songs, you know, came out of that session, so. And a lot of the kind of that session in that camp really kind of was the spark. So it's really cool to see how these songs all came into play. You know, Josh came in with his song incubator, which is a really good timestamp for where we're at. And. And there. Yeah, there's like. I mean, I could speak so long. We've worked so much on this album for such a long time, and. And they've got a little. Little hiccups with mastering and everything, but we finally are able to put it out there and already in the docket for us to go back into studio with a whole nother ep, maybe a couple eps, and then a whole new full length. We're going to start working on the next, like three months. Months. Well, the next couple weeks we work on the ep, and then after that, we start planning our next full length album in like two months later. So just very creative energy right now in the band, which is great. [00:22:52] Speaker A: Hell yeah. Keep it going. So what's the name of the album? [00:22:55] Speaker C: The name of the album is called things to do. [00:22:57] Speaker A: Things to do. [00:22:58] Speaker C: Because there's things to do. [00:22:59] Speaker A: There's things to do. Totally. And that is available everywhere. Spotify, Apple Music, all that jazz. Tonight. Tonight, coming out tonight at midnight, rolls into Friday. You can find Annie in the water's new album, and you should definitely fucking check it out. So, Michael, thank you so much for taking time out of your super busy day. You as well come over here and have a seltzer with me. Or what are we drinking? Polar. It's got some diet orange. [00:23:31] Speaker C: There's a flare. [00:23:32] Speaker A: Dry. [00:23:33] Speaker C: Yeah, it's like an orange soda, but. [00:23:35] Speaker A: It'S a good one. It's a good midday cocktail. Non alcoholic cocktail. [00:23:40] Speaker C: Yeah, orange. Well, our new font is orange. [00:23:42] Speaker A: Your hat. [00:23:43] Speaker C: Your labeling is orange. So orange seems to be a branding theme, so we're very excited about this. [00:23:48] Speaker A: It is fucking fantastic. All right, well, anyway, check out the album, something to do tonight at midnight. And right now let's listen to Mama Annie in the water. And it's right here on unsigned 500 eighteen's weekend. Spotlight. [00:24:00] Speaker B: Mama. Exclaimed the young youth. What happens to the unused?
