[00:00:00] Speaker A: You was born on a Saturday in 73 in the park, right? Music on the big guitar with the short. With radio.
It's motherfucking Andy calling. Look at my fucking cup, here we come.
[00:00:22] Speaker B: Andy calling, wearing him.
[00:00:26] Speaker C: Welcome to sign five one eight for the weekend of January 26. Although I do have a couple events that are on Thursday the 25th, which is today, as you're listening to it, what I'm going to do not only with this episode, but with regular five one eight or unsigned five one eight episodes, is I'm going to start releasing them at twelve 01:00 a.m. So that on Tuesdays, when you wake up in the morning, no matter what time that is, you will have an episode of unsigned five one eight. And Thursday, whenever you wake up in the morning, you will have an episode of unsigned five one eight. Weekend Spotlight, which is what you're listening to now. And if you have not listened to the other episode, because this is only episode two of the weekend spotlight, what it is basically kind of like what it sounds. I'm cherry picking just a couple of events that people have sent to me, either through DM or email and just talking about a few things, and maybe play a song from some of the artists that are playing so you get a feel of maybe who they are. So you can just be a little better informed about what you're going to do this weekend. And I do like to remind you that it is just a couple of the events, five or six, maybe, throughout the entire show, and there's dozens of things happening. So I do urge you to kind of seek out some things and stay connected. But this is, I guess, an entertaining way to find out what's going on. I don't know what this is. Anyway, so the first event that we are looking at is tonight, Thursday the 25th. And it is at no fun. It's scum couch headlining a special birthday show with guests Dylan Perillo, bear mattress and off hours. And that is at 07:00 tonight at no Fun, which is 275 River street in Troy. Next up at Lar call. Tonight, we have feng shui and Quantum Cosmic playing together. And I'm always honest with you guys, I don't know a lot about feng shui. I'm not super into the jam scene, but Michael from Annie in the water is a buddy of mine and lives right around the corner from here. And he is in quantum cosmic, because quantum cosmic is members of Annie in the water, members of Raisinhead and the switch. They all come together for a powerhouse super group. So feng shui quantum cosmic. That is tonight at Larkhall.
Begins at looks like 07:30 p.m. So go check that out and tell Michael I said hi. All right, so next up we have the e block at the hollow bar and kitchen. And that is Friday the 26th. Starts at 08:00 I've seen eblock. They're fantastic. I don't want to say like jazz or funk or r and b or they're hard to pin down, but certainly all those elements are in there. They're fantastic. Very high energy and, like, world class musicians. So go check out eblock. That is tomorrow, Friday the 26th, at the hollow bar and kitchen. All right, so this one at Caho's music hall, it is on the 27th, which is Saturday. It is run rabbit run, a tribute to Pink Floyd. And the first time I ever went to jive Hive live was when Run Rabbit Run was doing dark side of the moon in its entirety at Jive Hive live. They live streamed. You can actually catch the whole thing. It's on Jive Hive's YouTube page. But I was blown as a Pink Floyd fan, music, not politics. I was really blown away by how they recreated everything. They really had care and attention to absolutely everything. And there was a lot of multitasking going on, a lot of multi instrumental stuff at the same time, like playing the keyboard with one hand while fretting the bass with the other type of stuff. And it was a sight to behold. And this time they're actually playing two full albums. They're doing dark side of the moon again. And not only one of my favorite Pink Floyd albums, but quite possibly one of my favorite albums of all time. They're doing animals in its entirety. So you should definitely go check that out. That is at the Caho's music hall at 07:30 p.m. On Saturday, January 27. And in the spirit of Run Rabbit, run, I've since become kind of buddies with Carl. I asked him if he could send me a song that I could play for everybody to give you an idea of how close they come to that classic pink Floyd sound. So I'm going to play for you right now. It's something. Carl sent me a video and I pulled the audio off the, you know, if it's not CD quality, you know, sue me, whatever, but you'll get an idea. So this is run rabbit run doing.
[00:06:55] Speaker A: Breathe in the air.
Don't be afraid to get.
[00:07:09] Speaker B: Leave but don't leave me look around, choose your.
[00:07:19] Speaker A: Own ground only live and how you.
[00:07:25] Speaker C: Fly.
[00:07:28] Speaker A: And tears your cry all you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be.
Run, grab it, run, dig at home, forget inside when it last the work.
[00:07:57] Speaker B: Is done.
[00:08:01] Speaker A: Don'T sit down, it's time to dig another one you live and now you fly only if you ride the tide, the biggest wave.
[00:08:25] Speaker C: So that was run, rabbit, run doing breathe in the air live.
Just a fantastic recreation of the classic Floyd stuff. So catch them doing animals and dark side of the moon in its entirety.
Also coming up, we have lucid street. They're going to be at the bunker in North Green bush on Saturday. The show starts at seven. And on the first weekend, spotlight, I played a lucid street song they played with Margo Macero and vixen up at the Strand Theater. I heard it was just a killer show and everybody looks so happy in the pictures.
Bravo to all you. Also coming up on Saturday, we have rusticator playing as a duo in the depot, Argyle brewing company depot in Cambridge on Saturday at 07:00 p.m. And if you've never made it out there, it's an unbelievable listening room. The acoustics, the natural sound is fantastic. It's like an old train depot. So it's got like the really tall, arched, rounded ceilings. There's something about the acoustics. It's unbelievable. And the crowd there every single time are attentive and they're there to listen to the music and drink good beer.
Rusticator as a duo, they're going to be at the depot in Cambridge on Saturday at 07:00 p.m. And I was talking to Tony Califano of rusticator the other day and he sent me along a song that I can play for everybody. So here is rusticator with lavender bells.
[00:10:25] Speaker D: Uf I couldn't see my way home through the petals.
This flower is catching my eye with bell shaped beauty and colors like I never seen. As I stare, my mind becomes open and my eyes start to.
[00:11:05] Speaker B: Purple.
My mind gets tell this world that we live in.
Smile.
[00:11:37] Speaker D: For days I'm not you since.
[00:11:42] Speaker A: I have all I need.
[00:11:47] Speaker D: Time passes so slowly, miss you and the stems now are breaking and breaking my heart.
[00:12:00] Speaker B: Oh, I stay here forever. You only wishing to leave.
Purple lavender.
My ears, my mind that we live in.
But the spider garden you.
[00:12:50] Speaker D: Is this field on my planet or some other plane? What lies beyond the gaze of our telescope size?
Are we giants in this universe or are we infinitely small?
This flower begs me to wonder.
[00:13:20] Speaker B: To.
[00:13:20] Speaker D: Find it, just why I am here.
I know that I love just to.
[00:13:29] Speaker A: Be here, but it's breaking my mind.
[00:13:39] Speaker B: Pink and purple lavender bell ringing ear my mind can't tell it's this world that you live in garden. You won't be loved my the beloved three.

[00:15:48] Speaker E: We're getting older but playing faster while our friends get put out to pasture I wouldn't call this our fate but I say we owe a lot to the five one eight.
Along the way we've made some friends the sugar hold eerie under the death can't take our time it's almost done we've lost our mind, but we're having.

[00:18:02] Speaker C: Fun we've lost our mind, but we're having fun. All right, that was short wave radio band. We've lost our minds, but we're having fun. And another show that I want to mention coming up on Sunday, January 20 eigth, my friend Deb Kavanaugh and girl love live at the Linda Live. So that is Sunday at 07:30 p.m. And I don't know if you've ever seen Deb Kavanaugh. She's fantastic. She's got great stories to tell. She's so cool to hang out with. I love her music.
I just think she's the coolest. So go see Deb Kavanaugh and girl love live at the Linda Live. That is Sunday, January 20, eigth at 07:30 p.m. So I want to thank you for listening to whatever this is. Like I said, since gaining control of the show, I just want to kind of put out more content. And this was the first thing that came to mind was just, hey, here's a couple of things coming up this weekend. But it's really just an excuse for me to stand in the dazzle den and talk into a microphone because I really enjoy doing that. And hopefully some of you listen. So if you have any events or shows that you want me to talk about on any of these, just send me, like I said, a DM through Instagram or an email. Unsigned five one
[email protected]. And if you could do me a favor and just tell a friend about the show or, like, rate and subscribe wherever you listen to the show. Because now that I'm on my own, that stuff really is more important to me because the more people that listen to it, the more people that enjoy it and give just kind of a little, hey, that's cool. Then the more exposure it'll get and the more people will hear it and so on and so on. So I really appreciate those that have stuck with me through this transition. Hasn't been easy to start completely from scratch, but here we are, and some of you are with me. So right on. I appreciate it. Let's keep this going. Anyway. I am Andy Scullen. This is unsigned five one eight weekend spotlights, and I'll see you on the road.
