[00:00:13] Speaker A: We get Spotlight with BJ Swinghammer. Is that his real name? Yes, it is. [00:00:23] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:00:25] Speaker A: We get Spotlight with BJ Swinghammer. Is that his real name? Yes, it is. [00:00:35] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:00:37] Speaker A: DJ Weekend Spotlight. [00:00:43] Speaker C: All right, what's going on, everybody? How you doing? Welcome to another episode of Unsigned 518's Weekend Spotlight. I'm your host, BJ Swinghammer. And yes, that is my real name. All right, getting into it. Schwinghammer's pick of the week. There's just one right now, but it's a great one. This is Forensic Polaroids. And one hit. [00:01:15] Speaker B: Why didn't I turn to you? When the world came crashing down [00:01:22] Speaker A: I [00:01:23] Speaker B: found something else and the feeling went away amongst the crowd I completely numb myself. [00:01:35] Speaker A: Then the flashback came and the movie played over in my head and you were the only one in a crowded room. Now there's empty space where we used to play Laughing way too soon that one hit hit me so hard I'm still see it straight. That one hit hit me so hard Everything changed from hearts to space. That one hit me so hard but you'll never knock me down again. After the 10 count the lights went [00:02:22] Speaker B: out [00:02:26] Speaker A: didn't expect to get hit below [00:02:30] Speaker B: the bel Everyone has a plan till they get punched in the mouth. [00:02:39] Speaker A: But I'm getting up, I've had enough the next batch are going down. Don't wanna let myself get close to you. Cause I've seen some things too complicated to explain. That one hit hit me so hard I'm still not seeing straight. That one hit hit me so hard Everything changed from hearts to spades. That one hit hit me so hard Knocked me right into next wing. That one hit me so hard but you'll never knock me down again. [00:03:33] Speaker B: He appears to be pinned against the ropes. [00:03:35] Speaker A: Watch this. [00:03:36] Speaker B: The gloves are coming off. [00:03:37] Speaker A: He thr the uppercut. It's over. [00:03:44] Speaker B: That one hit hit me so hard I'm still not seeing straight. That one hit hit me so hard [00:03:55] Speaker A: I've got to admit that one hit hit me so hard I'm spitting chicklets. That one hit me so hard but you' never knock me down. Never knock me down again. [00:04:33] Speaker C: All right, that was one hit. The 2025 single from forensic Polaroids. Moving on now to Friday. Not one, but two occurrences are gonna show up on this episode. First is Indian Latham Farms in Altima at 6pm You've got JB, aka Dirty Moses. And this is Find a Way. [00:04:52] Speaker D: And we push to find a way and we push to find a way and we push to find a way and we Worship. Yeah, yeah. [00:05:15] Speaker E: There's a small window between desperation and fear. You can make people believe anything that they hear. Trickery within the eyes of men confuse the mind. And those lies hide what gist may lie within. People swear they're woke but are walking in their sleep. Living far from the truth they hold near and deep. H and M calling our black babies cool monkeys. The drug epidemics. Now an epidemic because we got white junkies. I'm not buying it. The clothing, all this pandemic. They keep trying it. Only do because we let it. When there's enough, enough. When will we fight back? I thought you thugs was tough. Point your guns in the right direction, please. You're being manipulated into hating those that look like you. Doing the same things hookers do. Selling yourself short. Look at you. [00:05:58] Speaker D: We push to find a way. [00:06:01] Speaker E: But we gonna find a way. [00:06:03] Speaker D: And we push to find a way. [00:06:07] Speaker E: Lord, help us find a way. [00:06:09] Speaker D: And we push to find. [00:06:12] Speaker E: Cause we gonna find a way. Yeah. There's a very thin line between rapping and acting and laughing and crying and living and dying and love and hate. Opposite to trap because they're one in the same. Sound confusing, don't it? But I'm working on my environment. Alignment. Sun, moon, stars, chakras, refinements, Universal codes, Black holes, time and space. Breaking da Vinci's code. Becoming a better man. Better, better father figure. Figured someone's gotta do it. Tired of being called a nigga. Something's gotta give, not charity. We're just trying to live looking for clarity. Self help books don't help oneself. Unless you're the self that publish the book. Otherwise, look for self. That's my motto when I'm sticking to it. Yeah. No time for arguing. Let's get to it. [00:07:03] Speaker D: We push to find a way. [00:07:07] Speaker E: But we gonna find a way. [00:07:08] Speaker D: And we push to find a way. [00:07:12] Speaker E: Help us find a way. [00:07:14] Speaker D: And we push to find a way. [00:07:18] Speaker E: We need to find a way. [00:07:19] Speaker D: And we push to find a way. [00:07:23] Speaker E: Yeah. Help us find a way. [00:07:25] Speaker D: And we push to find a way. [00:07:29] Speaker E: Cause we gonna find a way. [00:07:30] Speaker D: And we push to find a way. [00:07:34] Speaker E: Lord, help us find a way. [00:07:36] Speaker D: And we push to find a way. [00:07:40] Speaker E: We need to find a way. [00:07:41] Speaker D: And we push to find a way. [00:07:45] Speaker B: Ye. [00:07:58] Speaker C: All right, that was find away from JB aka Dirty Moses off his 2019 album Libations. All right, and now we are moving on to Ophelias in Albany at 8pm You've got Sons of Eden, Shortwave Radio Band and Four Dead Kings. I decided to go with shortwave radio band. Because you know, you know why and this is We've lost our minds but we're having fun. [00:08:32] Speaker B: We're getting older but playing faster While our friends get put out to pasture I wouldn't come call this our fate But I say we owe a lot to the 518 along the way we've made some friends the sugar whole theory under the dead can't take our time it's almost done We've lost our minds but we're having fun. It's not just us we have to conquer We've got folk singers, rappers and punkers Everyone taking care of one another along the way we've made some friends the sugar hoagies Weary under the dead can't take our time it's almost done We've lost our minds but we're having fun. Along the way we've made some friends the sugar hole eerie under the dam can't take our time it's almost done We've lost our minds while we're having fun We've lost our minds while we're having fun We've lost our minds while [00:10:50] Speaker C: we're having fun all right, that was We've lost our minds but we're having fun from shortwave radio band. That's their 2023 single. And now we're going to. One of my favorite parts of this show is our band show. We like to catch up once a week to see what these guys are doing. Guys, what is going on with our band show this week? [00:11:08] Speaker F: Thank you very much BJ and welcome in to our band show. Patrick W. Huber here, producer and director for an amazing team of recording artists and aimed to film musicians in the Hudson Valley area and beyond. This past weekend I was the outsider looking in at the518 as you celebrated your local artist with the awards known as the Eddies. First of all, congratulations to all the nominees and the winners for their hard work getting recognized at such a distinguished event. All these great artists help make a vibrant music scene that extends much beyond your local area. We've had a lot of musicians on the show from the 518 and we want to get straight to celebrating some of them. Last summer we worked with Andy to have an on sign 518 our band show multi genre showcase. Four amazing artists came into the studio to provide a wide variety of musical flavors for our biggest episode yet. Two of these artists ended up being nominated for this year's Eddies first Camtron 5000 for hip hop rap artist of the year. Congratulations Camtron. You won this is a big deal. We really loved having you on the show, the first hip hop act that we recorded. Additionally, we also had Little Saints nominated for Solo and Duo Artist of the Year. Unfortunately they didn't walk away with the win, but ultimately their music is fantastic and we hope that all involved in this project continue to make great music. Everyone at the show sends their best wishes to all the winners and nominees and hope you had a special weekend no matter what the outcome ended up being. Celebrating these two specific great artists is why this week I Want to Spotlight Camtron 5000's Tell Me youe Name featuring Arelli and Little Saints Satisfied, recorded live on our band show. Am I under 40 or past 25? I know I'm alright But are the goals that I have even worth all the fight? What are my goals? What are my dreams? I know the feeling of lying awake in the night when the darkest of thoughts start to creep I know the feeling of two cats who love me and curl up beside me in bed while I sleep I know the grief when a loved one is gone I know the belief that my life will [00:14:46] Speaker A: go on [00:14:48] Speaker G: I know how it feels to be floating along I know this road isn't quite what it seems what are my goals? What are my dreams? I don't need to know what my name is the name isn't truly what makes us what's in a name.
