[00:00:01] Speaker A: He was born on a Saturday in 73 he loves punk rock music.
His motherfucking envy SC Here he comes Andy Scrolling wearing his or his hat.
[00:00:27] Speaker B: Welcome to unsigned 518 I am on the phone with John of Keep Flying. How's it going man?
[00:00:34] Speaker C: Well brother, it's been a very long, very long 15 hours.
[00:00:38] Speaker B: Yeah, tell us about that. I mean we talked a little bit before we got recording but I figured it was a good insight into what shit can happen on the road.
[00:00:47] Speaker C: I'll give you the kind of quick version here. So I'm in a very small mountain town called Fernie in British Columbia, Canada Western Canada that I'm sure no one has heard of because I hadn't and I I work for the band Weedus which I'm sure everyone knows from Teenage Dirt Bag. They have long time friends of mine and it's just worked out in the last couple years where I go out on the road with them which is quite lovely but we are on a Western Canada tour for the end of their 25 year of the debut album that has their big on it and we played in Nelson British Columbia yesterday also a hippie town, mountain town in the similar area unfortunately the problem here we're in a bus and we are the way to get around in these from these towns is not really real interstates or highways mountain passes and. Right, correct. Yeah and so so we left at 4am Driver Jim got back and bro, we hit him insane peak the tallest peak on that pass Blizzard got stuck, started sliding in reverse A a wrecker had to come and tow us up the mountain so we wouldn't fall off either the side which was a 2500 foot drop or backwards any further and kind of got placed on the side of the road where it flattens at the top maybe around 7:45, 8:00am there's no services, no nothing which is fine but you know we have a show today and so we, we just kind of had to sit and wait for the roads to do anything for people to show up because there's no one away at this time driving around and after a long journey we we finally had a government guy down there or rather up there helping us move and get get down the 350 meters.
This is the part I left out before a 9% downgrade which is why we didn't want to go for fear of well all the horror stories that you hear. Right, right we didn't want to have that happen.
[00:03:04] Speaker B: I mean while 9 doesn't sound like a scary number a 9% downgrade is terrifying.
Right, Right.
[00:03:12] Speaker C: Wow. So that was a crazy gimmick.
[00:03:15] Speaker B: Yeah. And you guys are ready for.
It's like what, three something in the afternoon for you out there now. And you've got a gig tonight.
[00:03:22] Speaker C: Three. Oh, wait, no. Five, 40. I'm actually only two hours behind you.
[00:03:26] Speaker B: Oh, okay.
[00:03:27] Speaker C: Yep. So that's good.
[00:03:32] Speaker B: And you're just going right. Right to the gig. Just like a true professional, huh?
[00:03:37] Speaker C: That's it. We're just here. We're going right to it.
Venue was accommodating. Like everything's great.
[00:03:42] Speaker B: Nice. And you're out. Like basically until you swing through Albany. Correct. Like you're.
[00:03:49] Speaker C: Yeah. So I won't get. I won't get back until April 23rd. I gotta drive all this gear back as a, as you know, as a kindness for him. Brendan, the singer.
I gotta drive back from Fargo, North Dakota, when we cross back in, back to the Bronx where he lives.
And then I'll go home for six days and then we leave, man. We rehearse on the 30th of April and we're on tour May 1st.
[00:04:15] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:04:15] Speaker C: And we're, we're non stop and you know, we had an off day on this tour on May 20th because it's my birthday and that's your birthday.
[00:04:23] Speaker B: Get the out of here. That's my birthday.
[00:04:25] Speaker C: May 20th.
[00:04:26] Speaker B: May 20th, baby brother.
[00:04:28] Speaker C: That's it.
[00:04:28] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:04:29] Speaker A: Wow.
[00:04:30] Speaker C: You can't make that up.
[00:04:31] Speaker B: No. That is fucking crazy.
[00:04:32] Speaker C: Well, I decided to add a show at last minute in Brattleboro, Vermont, a place that I love very much.
[00:04:39] Speaker B: I'm from Vermont because.
Well, my first ever. My first ever job was DJing in Brattleboro, Vermont.
[00:04:47] Speaker C: That is crazy.
[00:04:47] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:04:48] Speaker C: That is actually crazy.
[00:04:49] Speaker B: It really is.
[00:04:52] Speaker C: Yeah. We're adding a show at midnights, which is a spot that's back now. It used to be called something else. My buddy used to do security there when he was a kid.
[00:04:59] Speaker A: Did.
[00:05:00] Speaker C: And our new friend owns this place. It's like underneath the hotel.
And that's it. We're. We're. We're gonna cook it up and add a diy, go to this tour. And I just don't want to take off for my birthday anymore. I'd rather play a show. This is where I belong. It's what I know and what I love.
[00:05:18] Speaker B: So, yeah, I mean, I've. I've actually played a show on my last three birthdays because we, we made it a birthday party and we're like, you want to play it? We're like, yeah. Fuck yeah. I want to play.
[00:05:29] Speaker C: We're a little cursed with a. With a Wednesday this year, but that's okay.
[00:05:32] Speaker B: Yeah, it's fine. It's fine. I'm. I'm. I'm in my. I'm going to be 53, so, like, I'm kind of at that, like. Yeah, who gives a shit, you know?
[00:05:41] Speaker C: Yeah, that I understand.
This is going to be my big 40.
[00:05:45] Speaker B: Oh, nice. Well, you're starting to get into that. You. You start carrying less and less right about at 40, so.
But by the time you hit 53, you're like, I don't give a fuck what anybody thinks.
[00:05:56] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:05:57] Speaker C: I'm just looking to live. You know what I mean?
[00:05:59] Speaker B: Yeah, well, you know, we want to. I'm not going to keep you too long because I know you have a show and I know you're.
[00:06:04] Speaker C: No, that's okay.
[00:06:05] Speaker B: In a strange area and you guys are, like, covered in snow out there where you are right now. Right? Obviously, so much snow. Yeah, it was. It was almost 80 degrees in Albany today.
[00:06:15] Speaker C: Just absolutely. Yeah. Super snowy.
[00:06:18] Speaker B: Yeah, we were at 80 today.
[00:06:21] Speaker C: Yeah, see, that's. That's no good. That's no good.
[00:06:25] Speaker B: Yeah. But, you know, we are here to talk about Albany. You're coming through with CinemaShare and we're playing Empire Underground. And my band is actually one of the bands opening up for you, which is.
[00:06:37] Speaker C: Oh, bro, that's the best move.
[00:06:38] Speaker B: Kind of like one of these things where I was like, I'm gonna use that as an excuse to reach out and talk to the boys and keep flying. But yeah, so it's Vintry Hill. They're a local up and coming punk band. They're. They're younger dudes, really good.
They're like the future of punk rock. And then there's us, Shortwave Radio Band. We're like punk rock past. We're all over the hill and.
And then. Wait, who else? Who else? It was Double xp who were newer.
[00:07:09] Speaker C: Rossi's band. Yep.
[00:07:11] Speaker B: Yeah, but they are fucking killing it. They're like.
Like blowing up.
[00:07:15] Speaker C: Can I. Can I interject here for.
[00:07:17] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:07:20] Speaker C: I have to sound check the songs I play with them. Is it gonna screw the program for me to call you back in six minutes when I'm done with this?
[00:07:28] Speaker B: No, no, not at all. No.
[00:07:30] Speaker C: I'm gonna call you right back.
[00:07:31] Speaker B: Yeah, go do a soundtrack and then. Then come back, call you right back. All right, man. All right, so we're gonna let John go sound check with Weedus, and while he does that, we are going to listen to A song from Keep Flying the this is Miranda and we'll be right back.
[00:07:46] Speaker A: I can't fight so you made a name I follow we can't change what we're back to gray I can't we are different we are different things what we are we still are different Bent on this yeah we improve we were not meant to be more than animals we were not meant to be more than animals we're hunting attacks, killings and together they tell us they think they can make people better we can't Cuz this is all we are I'm not marked I feel bad item I'm alone I can't change what I back up I can't judge, can't be say that what we all do Kill our black lives can we improve we were not meant to be more than animals we were not meant to be more than animals we're hunting it back Killing together They tell us they think they can make people better we can't this is all we are this is all we are.
We're selfish enemies who walk the globe Looking up for ourselves is all we know we're hunting in packs and we're killing together they tell us they think they can make people better we can't Cause this is all we are this is all we are this is all we are this is the best we can do and we can never ever Cause this is all we are this is all we are.
[00:10:19] Speaker B: All right, so that was Miranda. Keep flying. And we are back with John. You're sound checked and getting ready for your gig tonight out in fucking. Somewhere in British Columbia.
[00:10:30] Speaker C: Fernie, brother. Fernie.
[00:10:32] Speaker B: Fernie. Oh, right. I should have known.
[00:10:34] Speaker C: That's right. That's right.
[00:10:36] Speaker B: So, yeah, like before we went into the song and you had to run, we were kind of talking about the lineup.
We had mentioned like the local bands. And then it's Cinema Stair one more time.
[00:10:47] Speaker C: We are playing together. You are playing the show, which is double down for me and you talking on the phone right now. And I'm excited about that.
[00:10:55] Speaker B: And we have the same birthday.
[00:10:58] Speaker C: We do have the same birthday. So you're born or you're from Vermont?
[00:11:02] Speaker B: I am from. Yep, yep. Born in Springfield, Vermont, not to be
[00:11:07] Speaker C: confused with Springfield, Massachusetts, which is the more fun piece that is very close to the border of southern Vermont there.
[00:11:15] Speaker B: Yes. Yeah, yeah. Because I lived like right next to i91.
So like, you know, I used to shoot down to like Brattleboro and Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York that way.
[00:11:25] Speaker A: But.
[00:11:26] Speaker B: But yeah, so we've got the Got the local bands playing. I'm. I'm in one of them. I'm stoked to meet you guys. I've been listening to your music a shitload over the last couple weeks but I guess then it's CinemaShare and then keep flying and CinemaShare are out with you. Is it currently or are they catching up with another leg of the tour?
[00:11:47] Speaker C: This. Yeah, this tour, the way it just kind of came to pass was there. We. We've realized very quickly there wasn't going to be one friends band that was going to be able to do all of it for all different reasons. You know, bands that don't exist anymore, bands that aren't able to take off more than certain number of days, any sort of thing. So this kind of turned into the greatest hits when it comes to our friends supporting. And Cinemaster is on the last chunk. They're you know, Connecticut based, you know, predominantly and they were. They're friends with our newest member Dave who plays shows with them with his other band. And it kind of just came together. We're like hey, what do you think about Boston and Albany? We might add one more other show as I was telling you in Vermont. But like does this work for you? It's not that far. The shows are going to rock. We'd like to have something different. And again bands that are involved with our lore and they said yes right away which felt very good.
So we're pumped, we're pumped to close it out with them before you know, of course the big one which is on Long island which is a completely separate billing from any of the tour dates.
[00:13:01] Speaker B: Right. And that's like the cap off the whole thing, right?
[00:13:06] Speaker C: Yeah, that's like the one. It is the reason why we built this. That show is exactly 10 years to the day, which is rare. May 23, 2016 was when our first album dropped and when the band like officially existed and it just worked out that it's Saturday ten years later on Memorial Day weekend. You couldn't ask for a better scenario.
[00:13:29] Speaker B: No, that's amazing.
[00:13:31] Speaker C: We got the hold on the venue, I mean over a year ago because I didn't want to lose it and just kind of figured it out as we went. But yeah, that one is with the Punches.
Our friends band from upstate New York. Our friends band, Eternal Boy from Pittsburgh and then Dave are as I just mentioned, our newest members. His band, that's Long Island Bass called Few Faces. So that's what we're ripping and but yeah man, Albany, you know to keep it Centric to that. The reason why I wanted Albany, Multiple reasons. One, Albany, for us, has been a blessing, especially in the back half of our 10 years as a band.
We have been fortunate to be landing Albany on weekends. The last many times. We've been. Every show has done great.
Our friends opened Empire, you know, during the Pandemic, when we were made aware that Upstate Concert hall was going away. Empire was gonna. We have exclusively only played there since Pandemic ended in the Underground, and it's been wonderful.
And, of course, I needed a show that was far enough away from Long island that there isn't necessarily crossover, but close enough that we can haul ass back to, you know, North Jersey where our drummer lives, so we can have the day to prep for the show on Long Island. So this was, like, the perfect world.
Dave and Jen were available, and they were like, let's do it. That show came together first. I appreciate you and the other two bands because the whole bill was the first show to be finished.
[00:15:10] Speaker B: Oh, wow. That's cool.
[00:15:11] Speaker C: If I'm being completely honest, we are two weeks and one day from the tour starting, and I still have three shows that aren't done.
It's all good. It's part of. It's part of it. But, like, Albany was done in seconds. It was done so quick.
[00:15:28] Speaker B: And, you know, it's funny. Cause, like, they're like, we've played Empire Underground several times, and, like, it's a great venue, and I love playing there. But this was the first show that the promoter at Empire actually reached out to us directly, because a lot of the times it's other bands being like, hey, you know, we booked this show. You want to jump on? And they reached out to us directly, and we're like, hey, do you got. You know, we think it'd be a good fit if jumping on with Keep Flying. We were like, fuck, yeah. Like, I said yes before I even talk to any band member, like, oh, you.
[00:15:58] Speaker C: You and me are the same then, brother. Because I do the same. Sometimes my bandmates get pissed.
[00:16:02] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, it's a risk. It's a risk. But, yeah, I was like, yeah, absolutely, that. I just texted everybody. I'm like, hey, by the way, we. We have. We have a gig. But I. I already said yes, so.
[00:16:11] Speaker C: But, yeah, you know what is. Is quite poetic. I. I'll tell you this. This is great info. And you probably don't. As I said, this is the. This is the show that came together the fastest and was put up with the full lineup, you know, inclusive of Everybody right. First. Right. It is also poetically and simultaneously the highest ticket sales of the whole tour, minus the show on Long island, which had been announced for over a month before that.
Yeah. Albany has the. The, you know, for the tour is the highest tickets for the tour. So I think that kind of.
I do think that's related. I think that the urgency to get this going and. And when it is and who's playing and the way it came together so quickly and everybody being so stoked has definitely proven that it correlates to people wanting to come to the show. So I'm very, very happy.
[00:17:09] Speaker B: Yeah. And I mean, and I saw the
[00:17:10] Speaker C: couple weekends going, right.
[00:17:12] Speaker B: I sold a couple of our tickets before I even had them.
Like, I basically was like, hey, you know, we're playing the show, and my buddy reached out to me and he's like, how many tickets do you have? And he's like, save me something. Okay, you. You got it. Like, I don't have them yet, but. Yeah, but actually, I have the same thing with.
[00:17:29] Speaker C: We had a few. Few friends be like, hey, I was gonna buy tickets for Long island, but you've announced Albany. I. I hope you're not offended. I would love, love to not have to drive the couple hours. I'm not offended.
[00:17:42] Speaker B: Right.
[00:17:42] Speaker C: We knew that that was going to happen.
Any show you come to is going to make us happy. Sure. The one on Long island is going to be different because it's the show and we're doing all the old songs and we've got a ton of surprise guests and things of this nature, which we won't have the rest of the tour. But Albany, we're going to basically play all the old songs. In fact, I. I can't say it because I don't know yet, but I have a looming feeling that we might just do all the old songs. Even though we told people to vote on which songs they want, because we may want to just do it because Albany is always such a heater for us. So I kind of feel like that's the way it may go.
[00:18:22] Speaker B: Yeah, I think so, too. And, like, you know, speaking of that, how you were saying, like, how Albany's, like, far enough removed, like, that's how I envision our scene being is, you know, bigger bands understanding that Albany is a good market that's ready for people to come out, you know, like, we have a. We have a decent enough scene, but I think we need more people to have your mentality of being like, yeah, fucking Albany's gonna kill it, you know,
[00:18:47] Speaker C: yeah, the people that don't know about what's going on in upstate New York, aside from Buffalo, are the people who call Albany Albany. And they don't know. And that's fine because they just don't know.
[00:18:56] Speaker B: It's not fine. But yeah, sure, right.
[00:18:59] Speaker C: Part of that is, is that they would never even think to consider Albany, Utica, Rochester, Syracuse, Watertown, et cetera. Oneonta, New Paltz, Poughkeep.
[00:19:11] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:19:11] Speaker C: Beacon, you know, Kingston, Woodstock. As we know, these are all places.
[00:19:17] Speaker B: Yeah. And I mean, you know, those are mostly places because I work for Metroland, like the arts and music publication here. And like, those are all places we cover, you know, because like, Metroland, as we call it, is a huge area.
Not just Albany, you know.
[00:19:33] Speaker C: Correct.
[00:19:33] Speaker B: Like, I'll drive down to Kingston for a show at the drop of a hat. Like, you know, two hours for a show, no big deal.
[00:19:40] Speaker C: Exactly. And bro, sometimes we've done tours where we hit six spots in upstate.
So again, being a New York based van, it's easy. I mean, it's the same ideas when somebody in Florida is like, well, we're doing 12 shows in the state of Florida. Well, you can, you know, all Those other spots, etc. Etc.
[00:20:00] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm sure Less Than Jake wouldn't have any trouble.
[00:20:04] Speaker C: They've done though.
[00:20:05] Speaker B: They've done 12 stocks crushing.
[00:20:07] Speaker C: They've done. Newfound has done it. Yeah, Less Than Jake's done it.
You know, I think there's plenty of bands that have done this in their respective place of living, but, you know, it's that, that's why we knew that we were gonna have to do upstate. And of course we had just done. We just did Buffalo in March on our spring tour. So I was like, well, maybe we can consider Buffalo for the end of the year, but like, we can't come back that soon. We got to wait a little bit.
So Albany was the perfect fit. And then, like I said, they Empire was very quick to tell our team, yes, give us the show.
[00:20:45] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:20:45] Speaker C: And. And here we are. And I. I simply am stoked to end the tour, as we said, not just on Long island, but with the double New York play, which is not inclusive of the city because actually our band has never been a band that has able to. Most bands can't conquer the city. It's a burden. We know that.
But if you're able to do an Asbury park and a Brooklyn or a Long island and an upstate New York, you've done it without actually going into Manhattan, which you know, We. We kind of try to reserve that for something special each time or, you know, supporting somebody or just anything else.
[00:21:25] Speaker B: Right.
Be a good reason. Make it a good reason anyway.
[00:21:29] Speaker C: Yeah. Otherwise, you know, it's.
[00:21:31] Speaker A: It's.
[00:21:31] Speaker C: It's hard for us to get all of our people to come out for that because then they all have to travel because none of them actually live there. They're all scattered about.
[00:21:39] Speaker B: Right.
[00:21:40] Speaker C: And I think Albany is that sweet spot where we do, because we play Utica often, too. We get those people, they drive over. We get the western Mass. People that drive over because we do well in the Springfield area as well.
And we get people from the, you know, Westchester and in between to drive up.
[00:21:59] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:22:00] Speaker C: So we got the Yonkers people that would rather drive up than come to Long Island. Okay.
[00:22:04] Speaker B: I can't blame them. Yeah.
[00:22:06] Speaker C: Fair enough. You know.
[00:22:09] Speaker B: Yeah, that makes. That makes sense.
[00:22:12] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:22:12] Speaker B: Well, cool. Well, I'm.
I'm not gonna. Not gonna hold you too much longer. Like, I figure we'll wrap it up. I know you have a show, but I. I just wanted to. I'm glad.
Talk because I'm so fucking excited for the show. I've been excited for the show since, you know, we. We agreed to do it, and it's. It's coming up so quickly that I'm getting. Getting panicked. You know, I'm like, it's. Here it comes. You know, I like the anticipation of a show, and I hate the moment it's over.
So, you know, that's how, you know it's funny.
[00:22:42] Speaker C: I. I appreciate this combo with you because we basically went.
We love New York, and also we love Albany, and also we love the venue and all of the bands playing and come.
[00:22:54] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:22:56] Speaker C: And. And now that is a nice, refreshing conversation right there.
[00:23:01] Speaker B: Yeah. It's going to be so cool. It's going to be such a positive experience. Like, I'm excited. Like, even though I'm familiar with the local bands, we've never played a show with either of them.
So, like, it's like we get to play with four new bands, and it's just going to be so much fun. I'm so excited.
[00:23:17] Speaker C: Yeah, man. I'm really glad that we made this happen. All of this. Not just this combo, but the whole show in general.
[00:23:23] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:23:24] Speaker C: And I have a looming feeling again, because we'll be at the end of our tour, that we're going to be in silly chaos mode, which is usually what happens towards the end. Like, I refuse to let this tour have stress, and I'm really, again, you know, that stage just lights up down there, man. And I'm just very, very lucky and excited that we get to do it this way and just have fun. Which is what the whole point, right, of still being a band after 10 years is to just. At this point, we just want to have fun. Otherwise I'd rather not do this, you know.
[00:24:05] Speaker B: Yeah, that's a great philosophy to have.
Absolutely.
[00:24:10] Speaker C: So kind of stole it from Ben and Jerry's brother. If it ain't fun, why do it, you know? And they're, they're, they're right, so they are, right.
[00:24:17] Speaker B: Another, another Vermont reference with the Ben and Jerry.
[00:24:20] Speaker C: That's right. That's right.
[00:24:21] Speaker B: Well, hell yeah. Well, again, I'm excited to, to see you at Empire Underground with Vintry Hill and Double XP Cinema Stair, obviously. Keep Flying. And my band, Shortwave Radio Band. It's gonna be a fucking party. And if anybody needs tickets, hit me up. I have them actually literally in my hand as we're speaking. I've got some pre show tickets for $15.
[00:24:43] Speaker C: Tickets?
[00:24:43] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:24:44] Speaker C: Come on now.
[00:24:45] Speaker B: And like I told people on my show, I'm like, if you buy me buy a ticket, I will get it to you. If I have to drive it to your house, I will drive it to your house, you know, But I will make sure you get those tickets. So hit me up if you need them.
[00:25:00] Speaker C: Thousand percent it, bro. I'll drive it to their house, right?
[00:25:03] Speaker B: We'll both show up.
[00:25:05] Speaker C: I'll show up. Yeah, I'll show up. I don't mind. I don't mind.
[00:25:09] Speaker B: Yeah. Just a real quick story before we go. There's a friend of mine who's in a band called Eerie.
Well, actually I'm friends with all of them, but they had put out this album and another friend of mine is, was a fan of them and he had bought the album. So the drummer from the band texts me and he goes, hey, do you know, you know, so and so? And I'm like, yeah, you know, I know him, he's a good friend of mine. He goes, oh, that's funny, because he ordered one of our albums and he's my fucking next door neighbor.
And I was like, are you kidding me? And he's like, yeah, I'm just gonna walk it over to him.
So he just walked over and knocked on the door. My friend opens the door and there's the drummer of, you know, one of his favorite local bands for this album. Here you go. You ordered this, right? And since then they've become really good friends.
[00:25:52] Speaker C: So that Is amazing.
[00:25:55] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:25:55] Speaker C: Funny how that works whenever we, whenever I'm home. If we have Long island orders, I am inclined to drive them.
Same reason. You know, I'll just, I'm just going to show up. Yeah. You know, and if they're. If they're there, it's like a nice surprise. And if not, you know, not to be creepy, but it's like I am the one shipping it. So it's not like.
[00:26:15] Speaker B: Right, right.
[00:26:15] Speaker C: Your address. It's just in the order. Yeah.
But yeah, man, I don't know. That's endearing. I know that that never happened to me as a youth, but if that had happened to me, I probably would be speechless and confused.
[00:26:29] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's pretty much exactly how he was. He was like what?
He's like, yeah, I'm your neighbor.
[00:26:35] Speaker C: Going on here.
[00:26:36] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:26:37] Speaker C: In fact, funny story, Dave, who I've mentioned a few times, our newest member, the first kind of interaction I ever had with him was that exact thing. He had won some sort of contest on our social media and I seen he was in Massapequa and instead of shipping, I drove it over and I sent a message to the phone number that was in the Shopify and here he comes out with his father.
I think he was 15 and his. Him and his dad and we just talked for way too long hour. And now he's in my band.
[00:27:10] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:27:11] Speaker C: It all works out. You know what I mean?
[00:27:13] Speaker B: That is crazy.
[00:27:15] Speaker C: Isn't that crazy?
[00:27:15] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:27:16] Speaker C: I love that things all happened for a reason and I'm. We're blessed to have Dave, so.
[00:27:21] Speaker B: Hell yeah. Well, I'm excited to meet you all.
[00:27:23] Speaker C: This is trash. I don't even need it.
So.
Yeah, man, let's. Let's do this. I.
We could be in the fourth.
Fourth. We could break down the fourth wall here. I intend to make group chats.
This is just talking to people about music business. I intend to make group chats for each show with all the bands and then come up with, you know, clever ways for us to each promote together, like cool collab posts and stuff as we get closer. So love that you can expect that message from me probably tonight or tomorrow.
[00:27:57] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:27:57] Speaker C: Because going into Monday we're now at the two week mark and it's like that's the kind of time that our band needs promo wise. Like about two weeks. Like more than that. It's like hard to get people to remember.
[00:28:08] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:28:08] Speaker C: But like when it's two weeks or less is when it starts to be a little bit easier to get people excited.
[00:28:13] Speaker B: Yeah. Because they get to have that anticipation without the. The long wait, you know?
[00:28:18] Speaker C: Yes. And they know they're available now. They, you know, they have their work schedule or, you know, it's just close enough. It's still far enough, but close enough that they can make the actual plan.
[00:28:29] Speaker B: Right.
[00:28:31] Speaker C: And then that's it. So that'll be coming. And we're gonna. We're gonna cook this, and we're gonna come up with some funny video promos.
[00:28:38] Speaker B: I mean, I'm all about funny social media, so.
[00:28:41] Speaker C: Yeah, that's. I mean, again, if it's not for us, at least we used to take promo photos where we stood there, straight face, and one day one of our friends was like, why do you guys do that?
You guys are not that. And you don't do. Like, that's not the energy you emulate whatsoever.
[00:28:58] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:28:59] Speaker C: Ever since that powwow, it's been so much easier for us to do photos and. And videos and stuff because we've realized, wait a minute, we can just have fun and kind of not care while caring. And it's. Everyone's gonna like it way more.
[00:29:13] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:29:14] Speaker C: It makes it easier. You know what I mean?
[00:29:16] Speaker B: Hell, yeah.
[00:29:18] Speaker C: So.
[00:29:19] Speaker B: All right, cool. Well, well, knock him dead. Tonight. It was super cool to talk to you, and I'm excited to see you guys at the show at Empire Underground. And if anybody needs tickets, hit me up. I mean, they're going fast, so, I mean, it's a good chance it could sell out. So.
[00:29:34] Speaker C: And hey, man, if you guys are listening to this right now, we are not stopping celebrating our birthdays on the 20th. We will be celebrating on the 21st, and of course, the day of the show, the 22nd. So wish us a happy birthday and let's have some fun.
[00:29:49] Speaker B: Yeah, and if you do book that show on the 20th in Brattleboro, let me know because I will come out.
[00:29:54] Speaker C: It's booked.
[00:29:54] Speaker B: Oh, it is? Okay. Because, I mean, Brattleboro is only an hour and hour and 20 for me. Like, I'm.
I'm more up near Saratoga, so it's
[00:30:03] Speaker C: gonna be us Cinema, Stair, one Local. It's gonna be at midnights, and we're just gonna rip a three band bill.
[00:30:08] Speaker B: Hell yeah.
[00:30:09] Speaker C: On the floor. A nice floor show in the back room where they do the shows, and we're just gonna laugh and have fun.
[00:30:15] Speaker B: All right, well, cool.
[00:30:16] Speaker C: I'm gonna go to sleep on my 40th knowing that I just completed another 23 shows in 23 days and that some things don't need to change. And that is one of those things.
[00:30:28] Speaker B: All right.
[00:30:29] Speaker C: Well, cool.
