[00:12:19] Speaker B: All right. That was what got you stoked in the first place from Girth Control.
Now we're moving into our band show. It's one of my favorite segments of the show. We check in with them every week. Guys, what is going on with our band show this week?
[00:12:31] Speaker C: Thank you very much BJ and welcome in to our band show. Patrick W. Huber here, producer and director for an amazing team of recording artists aimed to film musicians in the Hudson Valley area and beyond.
What have you been listening to lately?
A common question asked amongst friends for me, my crewmates have a Discord channel that's open to answering this question anytime. Although I must admit I do rarely post my latest listens, but I do think about this question quite often.
A lot of the artists I listen to have come from doing this production.
The artists we work with on the show have named influences from King Gizzard and the Lizard wizard to Axe and the Hatchetman, both groups occupying a lot of my listen time. With the introduction of King Gizzard, it led me to discover Cook Craig's own music under the alias Popeye. These synth heavy delights, songs like Lords of Lithium and Innuendo really uplift my mood.
There is something about this music that brings me back to one of my favorite albums of all time. Discovered amongst my father's record collection, Days of Future Past by the Moody Blues was perhaps one of the most influential discoveries for me. The mix of music and sound design really make this an extensive soundscape of psychedelic rock.
The experience, in my opinion, is second to none.
This has all been on my mind lately as I have been focusing on strengthening my audio production skills.
To do so, I took some of the stems from one of our sessions and played back the multi track into the mixer for some real world practice.
We've had a lot of bands to choose from, too many choices in fact. That would have made a good starting point.
I could have went with any number of them, but I landed on a trio for relative simplicity sake. But also it's a shoegaze band that fits into my general taste of music.
Earthhound is a band that originally played the new Paltz music scene before their lives sent them in different directions. After years of living their lives apart. They all returned to the New York area, got back together and started to refine their musical craft, often playing in the New York City music scene.
With two live albums recorded at Pete's Candy Store, they have a strong sense of who they are and ended up as a perfect start for my own live mixing journey.
Since I listened to their song over and over again as I experimented with compression, EQ and other mix features, I want to spotlight a song I never got tired of from a great group of musicians and although this is not necessarily my mix, this week I have chosen Earth Hounds. Let Me Break it recorded live on our banjo.
[00:15:18] Speaker A: When you roll up to the pearly gate Face to face paradise
[00:15:29] Speaker B: you walk
[00:15:30] Speaker A: along the promenade spitting to hell well machines sit on golden throne One by one they let us through tell us all it was all a dream Fate in the future.
Let me break it, let me break it Let me break it let me break it Let me break it down for you Let me break it, let me break it Let me break it let me break it Let me break it down.
Like a bull in a china shop Plastic glass domino subtract until infinity.
Everything decays in ways so let me break it let me break it Let me break it let me break it Let me break it down for you Let me break it, let me break it Let me break it Let me break it Let me break it down Sam,
